Hi all, we have decided that we are bringing my brother 'home' for burial. We have really lucked out. A friend of his is 'the' gravedigger, and has agreed to that part for nothing. He also spoke with the director at the funeral home he works for, and the director is going to do whatever they do for free. They have also waived their fee for the tents, chairs, and the machine thingy that lowers the body down. So basically, we only have to pay the transport fee, and buy the headstone and things of that nature. The funeral home in Texas that my SIL is using has volunteered to transport my brother here via van, for only $450, which is a far cry better than the $1200+ that would have been for flight transport. So, all in all, things are working out. We are burying him at his place that he still owned here in KY, so we won't have the plot fees or anything. So this is all good, the headstone and such costs enough as it is.


Cindy~~I'm going to catch the chickens that I'll be sending home with you tonight, so we don't have to fight with them tomorrow. Do you want the little white bantam cochin cockerel also for them?? Or just big stock chickens? And did you want an EE girl now, or wait a while on that? If you do want one, the white one, the rumpless, or the red white and blue?

Yeah you can send them the cochin...They love them all big or small.

I can't take the EE til after we get back(we return the 20th) and I paint the coop so if it's okay it'll be closer to the end of the month I can help with her feed though if you could keep her til then. The colorful one will be fine, or whichever is a positive girly, we'll look at them again when I get there tomorrow. Tell Cris we won't be able to fish with him this time or stay too long cause we have too much to do.
So far Cortni is coming with us so she can see your birds... Unless she changes her mind. We'll probably get there around 9:30 - 10:00 your time if she comes because she has to do some running.

Well back to work today. I can finally get some rest. I was on vacation last week. I didnt get everything I wanted done but got alot done. We ended up getting another pool, so I had that to put up. My hubby wanted the landscaping mulched which I had not planned. But I have lots of bruises, scratches and sore muscles.

Well, it turns out that Ethel - the funny faced goose - is quickly becoming my buddy

She follows me everywhere, and comes over to chat every time she sees me outside. Today she tasted my toe, decided she didn't like it, so told me to go get her some food

- Apparently I am her slave.

I'm glad she ended up here, instead of being culled at Metzers.

I love that silly goose.

This doesn't affect her at all - in fact, I had a hard time finding a pic where she was NOT eating

She is so pretty, I'm glad that you like them. I really just thought it had been injured by the way it looked. I know I just love my baby to pieces!! 'She' always has to talk to me when I'm outside, but is pretty scared of anyone else. So I guess I'll have a guard goose when 'she' gets bigger. I can't believe I have never had any, they are so much more personable than any other types of birds that I've had, except for maybe the coturnix, but those little peckers bite me too much. I guess they'd rather have a gravity feeder, so they never run out!!

yep - all three geese will talk to me and follow me, but Ethel hears me coming (I think she is smarter than the other two) and she runs to the steps to meet me.

I've tried giving them treats, they'd rather eat grass or feed - so I have yet to find a treat they all like. Even the ducks don't want treats.

I figured to try some watermelon soon.

Lucy is the prettiest of the three, but Ethel has the most personality.
