I had thought about a tote (I have them in one of the brooder bins with a screen lid right now) but I figured since it is just the two of them (for now) that a 10 gallon would be nice and I could put them in the living room, then.

Hubby loves those button quail, so I was thinking of putting the aquarium on that table next to his chair (the table on the wall). He is still amazed that that tiny baby that hatched actually lived and grew up

He figured it was too small to survive. I catch him in there looking at the buttons all the time

and every time they "hee hee hee" he laughs out loud, too

he's such a kid sometimes.

Yeah, I just love the buttons, they are so cute. I am amazed every time I hatch some at how small they are. And they get big fast, but they are still so tiny! I have 9 in a tank right now, the oldest is a bit over a week, the youngest are just a few days old. The week-old one is not even as big as a newly hatched coturnix chick, so cute!

Bad news....

Strut, our special needs rooster, has died. I have no idea why, just found dead. Jason has put him in the pet cemetary we have going on around here. He is now joining the last guinea to be released that about 1/2 hr later came back to the house in the dogs mouth

sorry about your roo.

I hate to think how I'm gonna feel when George dies or gets killed. I have no idea how old the little man is - I know he is the oldest chicken here and was older than two years when I got him.

Any one going to Shepherdsville swap on Sat morning? Wonder how many people will show up?

Anyways.....I have a Sebastopol gosling that is a week old. My last gosling of the year. The others are a month older and I don't want to keep it with the ducks so if anyone is looking for a gosling....

We will be at the swap on Sat. morning and I can bring it with me if anyone is interested. I am asking $40 for it. We will also have some BLRWs with us and a few 2 week old standard ducklings.

Well, that splash dutch girl is evidently not broody. She hasn't been back on that nest since the first night.

I hope her sitting on the eggs didn't mess them up. I do believe one of Cris's silkies is broody again, but according to Cristian, she already has 12 eggs in her nest. So I think she's full

I had 2 more baby buttons hatch overnight. So this brings my current total to 11 baby buttons. There are 9 more eggs in the hatcher, but they are all different dates. One of my buttons was broody, and the others were laying eggs with her, so I've got a mess!! The oldest one is about 11 days, then there are these new ones
roll.png
Then I have another 10 eggs in the incubator that are due on the 10th (I think). So I'll be up to my ears in buttons again! Not like I wasn't already!!

Maybe I'll get lucky and get me some more girls

The bantam cochins have 2 babies, both mamas are taking care of them. That silly roo sleeps in the nest with them! The 2 hens and 2 chicks will be in the back, and Hollywood will be in the front....I guess he's protecting them, cause he was going on the roost until the babies hatched

Pretty neat actually. They had another baby that I think they'd tried to help hatch, it had part of the shell stuck to it, and looks like the yolk sac was broken open. It had a long string of stuff coming off it. It's still alive, and living with the broodies that never end in the silkie tractor. They have 2 babies that are 3-4 weeks old, then they have 2 brand new babies, so this one fits right in!

Goofy birds! I might just use them to hatch my one silver phoenix egg that survived the P.O. I got from the June swap. It's due in a few days.

Okay, I think that's it for now

it's George actually, I had just put her into that other coop that morning to keep her from going out with the free rangers. She's been in with George and his girls the whole time I had her.
