I hate tornadoes - we had one pass over the farm as a kid, it didn't touch down, but it took two of our sheds and moved them to other parts of the farm. Scared the crap out of us kids - we were home alone (my sister was babysitting, she was 16 at the time).

What a crazy, busy day today
th.gif
Got up to feed the animals this morning, trying to hurry so I could go to the P.O. and get my new babies. That was about 10:30.

Finally got the new babies around 3, cause dad didn't tell me that he had to go to C-ville
hmm.png

P.O. guy was a prick, saying 'I hope none of them are dead'...Of course none of them were, they are only about a day and a half old, but what a prick!!
Finally get home, and the house smells like dead 'something', probably a rat in the floor or walls somewhere

Go into the 'baby chickens room', and it has the distinct smell of mold in there

So I got to overhaul all my brooders to figure out which one it was. I lost quite a few chicks a few weeks ago because of mold in the brooder, under the waterer.
Finally get everyone cleaned out and rearranged, put the new babies in their box, and get a good look at them. One of my tophat chicks is deformed, it only has 1 eye, and it won't hardly open that one. The other place that an eye should be is just closed

Of course they sent no extras, so I called them. They said they would credit me the price of the chick, because it will probably die....ya think? How heartless! It is pretty obvious, it's topknot is not even right, if the person tossing them in the box would have looked at them a bit, they would have noticed it

Then dad has a bug up his butt about something, so we're walking on egg shells tonight. Cris is being a total brat today, I don't know what his problem is. And to top it all off, I get on here and get a hand slap over speaking my mind to a total idiot

So how was everyone else's day?

Okay, some not very good baby pics!! Any ideas on what they are? I'm sure they are mostly polish, but I think the black and white one is a houdan, and the all-yellow one I have no clue on! There are some d'uccles babies, some red quill OEGB babies, then the polish and ? babies

Of course, every time I want to take pics, my batteries are almost dead, so these aren't very good

Well that was fast! I got an answer to my color question, and it looks like I have 4 red crested reds, 3 silver laced, 2 white crested blacks, and 1 buff laced, all polish

Some obviously have better top hats than others, but they are so cute!

I was just wondering if any of you fellow Kentucky people are interested in Serama.....cause if you are now is the time to contact BluegrassSeramas and sign up for your birds!
big_smile.png

I was also wondering if anybody has any blue-laced red Wyandottes...
fl.gif
..that would maybe want to trade?
Please PM!!

Anyways, I'm so glad that Kentucky people have their own thread. I was just reading about how the Okies thread got locked for some reason? Everyone was saying that it was because it was too large?

Ok, so I'm doing chores this morning, and I'm in the barn getting feed for the calves, and thought I saw an egg on top of the hay. I reach up and -- find 8 eggs up there.

Well, I'm sure they are Purdy's eggs, and I know Bubba has been doing his job (every chance he gets

) so I brought them inside and inspected them.

The spare incubator is warming up as I type.

I can't help myself. I've had a break, and now I have these adorable little babies to play with
big_smile.png
and I want more orps to raise up for sale next spring. I wasn't planning to do anymore eggs until like, december or so, but I just can't stop myself.

I had such a good hatch last time, too - 15 out of 16 eggs.... I like it when I have a good hatch.

and... and... and... They're Buff Orps!!! the world needs more buff orps, right?

I'm such a sucker.
