Kentucky people

Well, we won't be getting Bandit... Because Sandy(the girly) is def prego... So we will take one of the pups, they'll be ready by around Christmas. The vet said no inbreeding signs will show in the pups unless they are bred like 5-6 times... He told them they would be shocked to find out how many breeders inbreed.

Shelley: I tried to find what the breed mixes are that make a Teddy Bear... The actual inventors(I guess you'd call them) don't show the breeds mixed unless you franchise with them to raise and sell them. But another breeder has some that look similar and these are the breeds they used... Sires are Shih Tzu, Dams are Toy Poodle & Bichon Frise crosses.

Hey ladrifter, any idea if Jordan is coming to Cris's party? I sure hope it doesn't rain

I've been trying to get hold of a neighbor to see if we can use the church's basement (here on Little Cake), since I got a pinata for the kids. It would be pretty hard to have a pinata if it's raining outside

Hey Jessi, I'm up near Louisville. I'd love to get in touch with someone that knew more about horses... I really miss my VA friends that ran a riding school.... They were great and their ponies were soooo tame.... About all I know of horses is that a pony is a pony due to it's size and some of my friend's ponies were quite on the large size... That's why I thought about a mini-donkey or a shetland.... heck, I even thought a cow would do her... she's only 40 pounds and she gets on our GP who's about 150 pounds.... We've been working with the GP to get him to accept her being on him since he's such a lovey-dovey teddy bear of a dog....

Where's the monthly swap at Chuck?? You know me, I love to look...

heya all, I was busy yesterday, didn't even get online at all.

had to wrestle calves this morning

so much fun.
They had gotten into the barn, which I had blocked off with a gate leaned up across the door - apparently that wasn't enough. Norman stuck his head through the top opening (the only one big enough) and pulled it down onto himself, and then he was stuck, so the others all ran inside and started eating the hay we just put up. They hadn't been there too long before I got up, because they hadn't done any damage and Norman was not covered in mud too badly (poor guy was on the ground with that gate on him and his head still stuck through it

stoop!d cow.)

So, I chased them out and unstuck Norman, and then had to go let the geese out because they were having a fit (usually I let them out before I go do calves, and they thought I forgot them - like anyone could forget with them pitching a B!tch like they were.)

I got them out to their own field and fed them, shut the gate so they couldn't get into the corral at all, then fed the donkeys and let Camille and Mook into the corral to eat. (it's musical "cows", instead of chairs, when I do chores every morning

)

then, after everyone ate and I wrestled Camille and Mookie back into the donkey pasture, (and chased the donkeys back into their pasture because of course, they rush the corral looking for more food when I open the gate to let Camille and Mook out) then I had to figure out how to let the calves into the lean-to but not up by the barn entrance.

So... in the pouring rain I am out there pounding a Tpost into the ground by the tack barn and tying the gate to the corral fencing and sliding it behind the Tpost to make it stay (I hope it stays

) then I had to open the other gate to let them in, and try to get away, myself, without them knocking me down wanting to find bottles in my pockets.

(the last two bottle babies are being weaned - no bottle this morning, and they wanted one - badly).

Oh, did I mention that all this time Hubby is tucked snuggly warm and dry in bed?

Oh, and since we did square baled hay - I had to mess with all those bales the other day, throwing them on the wagon and then unloading and stacking in the barn, so my knee is bunged up again - I have some cream on it that makes it feel like it's on fire, but the stuff works great for the knee pain.

Meri needs a nice hot cup of coffee with a big blob of whipped cream on top and some ginger thin cookies to make it all better.

Meri -- can't send you coffee w/whipped cream.... and I'm not sure how good my ginger cookies are but I do make a good pumpkin nut chco chip bread that might travel well....

I had two GPs that wanted to roll in the mud and then love on me this morning....

I've never had to deal with cows or donkeys but I can imagine the fun....

BTW: my hubster was also tucked snuggly in bed too....

PM me with the number of loaves you would like.

I will be at Frankfort tomorrow barring any unforseen emergencies....

CTrash1 - include where you want me to send it and I'll let you know the cost of shipping...

Sorry it took me so long to respond. I've been up to my ears in homework!

A Saddlebred is just another type of horse...like a quarter horse, Tennessee Walker, Arabian, etc. Saddlebreds are gaited which will give you a bit of a smoother ride. Honestly, I'm no expert on them, but mine have pretty good dispositions.

If I were looking for a little one, I'd go with a pony. Something that won't make her feel like she's sitting up in the clouds, and if she falls it won't be as far. I, personally, wouldn't pick a shetland, but that's just b/c every one of them I've ever been around has been mean! I'd also prolly try to find one that's dead broke and a little older.

I would stay away from a donkey or mule for now. They can be a little strong headed and right now she needs something easy to deal with.
