I felt pity on that poor duck
I had moved the 'chicks' out of the porch brooder yesterday, and put them in one of the covered 3'x8' tractors with a heat light. The duck is about 3 or 4 weeks old, and pretty big. I was not looking forward to having a duck in a wire bottomed cage.
Anyway, so I put the duck in with the older chicks in the new hoop house I had built. I've been letting them (the hoop house chicks) out during the day for the past couple of days. I guess, becuase the guineas and other chickens are bullies, and because they also have a light, when it starts getting dark they all come out to play
I tried to round them up before dark, and gave up. I figured either they'd go back in on their own, or I'd catch them once they decided to sleep somewhere else.
So it was full-dark when I went back out there, and that poor duck had made his way out of the hoop house. He was laying right nexxt to the cage that the chicks he was with are in
So now I have a 3 or 4 week old duck in a wire bottomed cage that has 3' sides
Should be interesting to see how well I can keep their feed and water in there
