It is a one day show, onlt Saturday. The judging starts at 9 am I think, or around there. Some people get there before then to look around and to coop their show birds in. If you arent shoiwng 9-10 am is a good time to get there. I will be there around 7-8 I think, if I dont drive in on Friday night and spend the night.

Friday is just for setting up and getting the show birds into the cages. Casey is right about the time to get there. That should be the best time to view the birds on display.

If you are interested in buying birds, you can try posting for people attending and what they might have for sale. If someone is attending from farther away, they might have some better birds they are willing to part with, but not bring to the show without a commitment from a buyer. This would prevent them from having to take anything home. And you might want to plan on staying until judging has finished.

Some people will put sale tags on their show birds. Just plan on coming for the day. We'll all set up somewhere and have a chat. There will be food avalable, and maybe we can have a sort of chickenstock of our own. It' still a ways off, but we can bring a dish each or just eat what's available.

They have good food there, the last two years I have been they have grilled bugers and hotdogs. Anyone coming to the Brownsville, Ky show in April, the Green River Poultry Spring Show? I plan to attend that one too. Matt should be able to give us some info on that as the time gets closer.

This is one of the great things about chicken people; we are all so varied, but you never know how many of us have piercings. (but then there are those of us who avoid pain)

You have not seen me lately Casey; hair to the shoulders, multiple piercings to the ears, one in the nose, one on the brow, and one in the chin (lower lip area) and a dragon tattooed on the neck.

Just kidding, I am as plain as dirt.

Tom, did I have my lip pierced when you came down? I dont think I did. I look the same, cept I have a silver stud on my chin, barbell in my eyebrow, and a cross tattoo on my right arm. Other than that im the sold ole good looking self.

I've already got my photo up. I thought it would be easier when chating with people. Somebody was laughing at me at the state fair because I said my chickens were fancier than me. And then they pointed out that I had the same hairdo as my polish! I hadn't noticed until then! LOL And my favorite shoes are fuzzy slippers, so that resmbles my cochins and d'uccles.

I'll check with Walt and see if we might have room for a table or something. If there are tables there maybe we can reserve one.

Chickencop - are you a city, county, or state police officer? I haven't been to Henryville riding for a few years. Last time was maybe 2003 or 2004. Some friends had a benefit for me at the camp ground. Do you know an older gentleman named Dick? (Can't remember his last name) He used to always be at the camp ground. There used to be a group of us that rode up there. My friends Ann and Tom used to live in Henryville.

P.S. Shame on you Tom. You are not plain as dirt.

County police been on for 5 yrs now. I work nights so I dont make the trip to the forestry unless we get a horse or two running loose, not counting a few people who have had a few too many. Not sure if you know Joe Carr they do a lot of riding, and Yankeetown is just down the road from me...(next county over)....Now you aint talking about Dick Jamison are you??? Usually driving a Ford Dually about to fall off the frame?

Chickencop,

I don't know Joe, but I know some people that ride up there. I haven't kept in contact with most. They were ex-boyfriends of friends, etc....

Let's see there was Tom out on Monk Road. Maybe you've made calls there ! LOL

Stevie - committed suicide

And yes - that is the Dick I was talking about. I grew up with his nieces and nephews down here and never met him. I went riding up there and got to talking and turns out, his brother was my next door neighbor growing up. It's a small world. How is he? Last I heard he had cancer. He can be a funny old man, but I owe him a lot.

Not long after we met, I was diagnosed with cancer. No insurance, no spouse, nothing. Dick and some of that drunk group got together and planned a benefit. At the last minute, they found out that they had to purchase some sort of insurance. As everyone had spent their money on beer, they were going to cancel it. Dick paid the whole amount, and the party went on. They raised enough to help me with my bills and live on until I could get back to work. He's a great man. If you're out that way, tell him Yolonda says hello and sends her love.
