oh yeah i know Tom....we call him "cowboy" always got that hat on, and three sheets in the wind...and I have "personally" been to his place a time or two arguing with one of his gal friends...
I actually saw Dick last week pulling that horse trailer moving cattle. He use to always transport cattle for my grandpa to the stockyards years ago.

Yeah, That's Tom. My best friend used to live with him. Ann Sherrie. I don't think I've ever seen Tom sober. She finally got smart and moved out. I hated riding with him. When I do ride, I like to go all day, and cover a lot of ground. Riding with that group was ride 5 minutes, stop for 1/2 an hour to drink. I don't mind someone having a beer, but out on the trail is no place to be drunk.

Don't forget to tell Dick hello for me. I'll have to come up to the camp ground and see him.

Have you got chickens yet, or are you looking? And what might you be looking for?

OH YEAH, i got some chickens...I went over to a friend of mines place last week, Jerry Daw's his name, (lol, actually lives about stones throw down from Tom) and he was asking me to help him build a small coop and by the time we got done he was giving it to me along with 8 banties, 3 roos and 5 hens (pair of white japanese, and 6 others really need to take some pics so i can figure out which ones i got).....Even today with this ice storm and being totally dark in the coop i got an egg! Been getting at least 1 a day for i think the other hens are still kinda young. Suppose to go over again to visit this weekend he's got about 200 birds running around the yard but with the weather i guess ill be sitting tight inside.
Cant wait til this weather is OVER got the itch to get my large coop built...

Oh and i forgot, I was talking to Jerry about going to the show in May and he was all for it so it looks as of right now we are definitely going to be there! Just wondering if i should bring a pickup (if i find something i cant live without) or just drive the cruiser..lol

I think I remember Ann talking about Jerry. It sounds familiar.

I was so glad that it warmed up enough to melt the ice off of the roads at least. Did you have a lot of calls? I had everyone fed by lunch, holed up in the house, and watched movies. When I went out at about 10 pm, I had to get a shovel to break the ice away from the coop door. But, my car doors didn't freeze. I sprayed them with Pam cooking spray, and it worked. The weren't hard to open.

Anybody have any damage from the ice?

Luckily enough we didnt lose our power like we have the past few weeks. I didnt have to work so that in itself was a true blessing! But i sure was fired up this morning trying to get the cars out of the driveway. I got a nice 45 degree slop driveway...ugh!

Hello
I'm a new member here, I live in the rural northeastern part of KY near the city of Ashland. I've been a Kentuckian and a country girl all of my lfe. I'm an RN and work in the intensive care unit of small local hospital, my dear hubby is a concrete contractor, this year we will celebrate our 25th yr of marriage. We share our home with 3 children, ages 23, 20 & 13, a few dogs, numerous cats and a couple of turtles. In the past we have kept goats, rabbits, chickens, turkeys, ducks and geese. Due to work schedules we haven't had any farms animals for a couple of years. Oh but that's about to change, we are trying to decide on a breed of chicken to order. At this point we just want to gather eggs and have some good clean birds for the table. Of course our youngest, pet lover, wants some for pets. What do you do? Order those pets! I stumbled upon this forum while doing some chickie research and it's been so helpful! Our thanks to everyone here. I look forward to posting with this group.

Hi everyone, I actually live in CA., but our DD and DSIL and DGKDS live in Oakgrove KY. I told her that I would post on here to try and help her out. She is gettting ready to be deployed in a couple of weeks and they are trying to find homes for the last two pups from a recent litter.

They are mutts, 7 wks old, dewormed, almost weaned, 2males 1 black, 1 black/ brown.

They are keeping the other three so DSIL will have three small children(2 1/2, 4, 5 1/2) along with the pups and mama.

If you know of anyone that would want them PM me or email me. She has already put them up on freecycle with no response.

I keep trying to get them to get some chickens but have been unable to so far.

Thanks

Monica
