Hey Cindy, my OEGB Xiang Jiao is broody, you could always get eggs and stick them under her...I'm sure she wouldn't mind

Good idea Shelley! Hey Kygal, are yours gold Sebrights? If so, give me a price on the eggs including shpg, and if you take Paypal or would rather another payment method. Then I'll have Shelley PM you her address to send them to her.

Thanks, Cindy

aw never mind I just reread and you said you don't want to ship... Oh well, good idea while it lasted!

Hey Cindy,
Have not forgot about looking at Laynes birds.
Was at the Kentuckiana show and running back and forth between my city home and Amelia where I also live now where my birds are kept I forgot to look.
Good idea post Pictures of Laynes birds here and let us all see! Meet some BYC people I knew and found out some BYC people I did not know bought some of my babies.
Some people bought some of my Buff Silkie babies late in the day second Judging the Mother won Best Of Breed.
Had fun but it is exhausting, showing English Bulldogs was much easier just hand them over to the Handler!
So bring them on and we will Judge them BYC style LOL

I don't know HOW to ship...that's the problem.

I sure don't wanna charge anybody (even for shipping) for a bunch of cracked, broken eggs. Sorry

I usually wrapped them in a layer of tissue or toilet paper, then roll them in a piece of small bubble wrap leaving the top and bottom untaped so they can breath, but I do fold the bottom some to place point end down in the egg carton. Close the carton as best as you can and put a rubber band around to hold it shut. Then I used to roll the whole carton in large bubble wrap and place in shipping box, but you wouldn't have to get that fancy. A bunch of wadded newspaper cushioning all the way around would suffice... Just make sure it is packed around the carton tight enough so there isn't any jostle room. Seal the box, label, and ship... I never had any complaints about broken eggs with this method. If you decide to try this let me know, I don't mind paying for the eggs and shpg. I'll be your guinea pig.

Ok Karen, you ready for this? Don't know that they are good enough to show but we may not have a choice... Unless we try to work with one of the BCM pullets... But the Cochins would be easier for Layne to work with.
This is Union, Buff Columbian Cochin bantam... I bought Union from Shelley last Summer because she was kinda lonely... The only one Shelley had this color.

This one is Stripes, Barred Cochin bantam... He was the only survivor of 3 hatched out of 6 eggs. I got these eggs from CLEGGEGGS out of Georgia. I think his name is Bill Clegg. He is 7 wks in the pics, and we have been continuously comparing with the standard and everything looks good so far so I think he may have potential. He has lots of leg feathering going on and his tail feathers curved down instead of straight...

Thanks, Stripes is funny... Every evening when I move the chicks out of the nestbox that my ladies use for eggs, he bites me as he is protecting the rest I guess... But he doesn't bite me like I know he could. He just gives me love nips and holds on like he is trying to be careful not to hurt me.
So should I just let Layne show Stripes only or do you think he should attempt to show Union also even though she is lacking in the cushion area? I would be fine with just one bird.

Ms. Lewis Rich :

Cindy am loving the 8 week old boy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Girl has nice foot feathering and just needs a little more cushion Fluff butt!

thank you for critiquing them for us!

Of the hens that I am able to check, I have 71 eggs. I also found another broody guinea today, I have no idea how many eggs she has
barnie.gif
There is another chicken hen sitting on a nest in the pasture somewhere, I can't find her nest, so have no idea how many she has; and another bantam hen is sitting under some of dad's garbage near the building, she is pretty wild, so I don't want to check her this late in the day and scare her off the nest. 71 eggs, that's under 6 hens
hide.gif
One hen (LF, either langshan or cochin) has 12; 2nd hen (OEG) has 15 eggs; Xiang Jiao (OEGB) has 10; another OEGB hen has 9; then I have another OEGB hen sharing a nest with a partridge bantam cochin....between the two, there are 25 eggs in that nest

2 broody guineas are sharing a nest of 6 eggs, then the broody rouen duck has 11....Anyone need some chicks?
