Kentucky people

We had 3 dogs that mostly all got along with the chickens. The Lab would just lay around with the chickens. It was funny to see her in one of her dug out holes with chickens all around and on her sleeping. The older chowmix never found any interest in the chickens. If they came up to her she would get up and walk away. The chihuahua was the herder in the group. She had littledogitis. She would tease the roosters because she knew she could run faster than they could. They would think she wasn't looking and would go in for an attack and she would take off like a bullet just as one of them would get close enough to think he had her. It was a game to her. She never hurt or even touched any. When the chickens would wander out of the yard she would go and get them and heard them back to the yard. And when a stray or neighbor dog would come in the yard she would chase them out of the yard and all the way back to their yard while the 2 big dogs just stood there and watched. I wish I had a camcorder running when it happened because it was the funniest thing i've ever seen. Those bigger dogs would run with tail tucked as fast as they could. And she was fast too. She would be right on their heels the whole way.

I live a couple miles away from Elliot county, in Hitchins. I am starting a BLRW(blue laced red wyandotte) breeding program this year(breeder stock- Foleys). I am also fairly new to BYC, and it has been a great source of info. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

BTW: What kind of chickens do you have?

To KC n KY, I have some older RIR's, a gold laced Wyandotte, a black laced wyandotte and some avg. chickens. I have some six week old chicks that are Ameracaunas (Easter egg chickens), Black Austrolorps, Barred Rock and more RIR's. The plan is to breed true next spring.

By the way, If anyone local wants to stop by and say howdy and introduce yourself, you can find me most weekends at the Carter County Flea Market. Just stop by the Purple Door.

I'm in La center Ky, about 20 Miles from Paduach Ky.

Anyway my husband and I would like to find some place's that sell hatching eggs. I don't want to buy online. afraid the eggs would end up broken. We wouldn't mind driving an hour or so to buy some eggs from a breeder.

We also go to the Mayfield Trade Days every Monday to see what we can find. Bought some Egg lays there, but only one is laying so far

I won't be at the Carter County Flea Mkt. any more as a lot of my inventory was stolen last week. Heavy Sigh!
