Kids sleeping in the front yard be prepared its sad

I'm so glad you took action and let the authorities know what you saw. It is easy to assume what we think could be going on (drug house, etc.) but we can't forget like someone just mentioned that there may be something else... such as mental disorders or something along those lines. Regardless, kudos to you for keeping the best interest of these kids in mind. Hopefully whatever the problem is, it will be corrected.

I work in a busy ER and we see questionable family situations come in several times a day. Sometimes getting law enforcement involved is necessary; sometimes the situation is not was we assumed it was and they are fine. But you never know.

I wish that were the case but these kids all stink (are made fun of at school because they are dirty) and they sleep outside in the front yard on a street where drunk men frequently walk right by them .

It is not A family that lives there. There are multi culture/familys there. A few women and a couple men and alot of kids. I am not quick to condem people either but those girls are in danger and the house was ok for the adults to sleep in for months last year but the girls were on the porch.

I will not let this go on anymore!!! I went by this morning and the bed was moved from the yard. I suppose to the back or inside. Hopefully the latter but either way I called the school.

Probably the conditions in the house are WORSE than outside.
How sad.

DEFINITELY report them. Poor kids can't choose their parents.

I have seen worse sadly. God only knows what else is sleeping in that bed. If that was in my front yard ducks, cats, bird poop bugs you name it would be on it as well. Pretty sad how 1 family can destroy an entire neighborhood but unfortunately it happens.

You did the right thing. If this family is only very, very poor then the authorities will direct them to local services that can help them. But if, as it seems likely, this is an abusive situation, the children will come under the radar of the authorities and hopefully be removed.

What a tragedy. And shame on your neighbor for not calling the authorities a year ago when she KNEW they were sleeping on the porch!

I'm just speachless. No matter what the circumstances are, those children should have never been outside in front of the house. When I was a kid I slept in a tend in our back yard and completely by my choice. My tent was in the back yard because my parents bedroom was back there and my tent was right by their bedroom window. I lived in a bad neighborhood but I wasn't afraid. I wasn't experienced enough as adults are to even be afraid. I was about 14 years old at the time. I did have a bedroom inside and slept in my bed inside in bad weather and the back door was always unlocked.

These kids on the other hand had no shelter which even an outside dog would have. They could have been kidnapped at any time since they where out there where everybody either walking by or driving by could easily see. They didn't even have any sense to hide them in the back yard to hide their abuse or hide them from predators. They should have been in school also. How humiliating it must be for them to have to live like that and then be teased at school for it.
