yeah, unfortunately it managed to get out of the egg only to get stuck between the egg carton and the hardware cloth surrounding the light. Its feet were too tangled to get itself out. It bothered me seeing it struggling to free itself from the wire for about an hour. Since no other eggs had pipped, it decide to go ahead and move it.

He is doing fine this evening. Here a more pics from today.

Thanks, Mahonri. I think you are probably right on the hy-line hen for the mother. Not sure which of the two white ones though. The eggs were large, but not extra large or jumbo.
 
I was just curious, how did you know the date of packaging? Do they put it somewhere on the carton. I'm thinking about trying this. It seems like it could be really fun and you would obviously get some good egg layers.
 
I'm still just totally blown away that you can actually buy fertilized eggs from the grocery store LOL!
