Can you "plant" a solar light in a flower pot, near the door? A cheapie one from the Dollar store works fine. It charges during the day, then lights up at night - giving her a guide to the door.

For those of you in Laura's path, or who get winter storm outages a lot, you can do the same thing. I keep a couple in my front garden all year. If the power goes out, I put one in a pot beside my front steps, so I don't break my neck coming and going. The others get placed in strategic locations around the house ... for the same reason! For everyday, I have one that "lives" on the kitchen windowsill ... the cheapest nightlight I've ever owned!
I'll see if I can pick up a few tomorrow.

Oh - and here's my H picture - Herman the House Rooster. RIP my silly boy:View attachment 2306186
On a Hurricane Note: Herman's original name was Irma, because he hatched the day Irma made landfall in the US. That name stuck until "she" began to crow, whereupon we changed it to "Herman," because the poor little chick already knew "her" name. Herman was close enough to Irma to work ... and it stuck. He was DD's boy - through and through - and SPOILED beyond a feather of a doubt!

The other reason I haven’t been around much is that we had another SAD situation....a couple weeks ago after pool party, Tater’s eyes were irritated....she recovered a bit so we thought maybe it was the chemicals in the pool but when it happened worse this weekend we figured out that it was Sunburn/UV damage from her obsession with staying in the pool and outside in the sun constantly!!!! I haven’t gotten her VET appointment yet because not sure what exactly they can do beyond what we’ve been doing to treat her but she very likely has some degree of permanent damage/blindness at this point. We have “grounded” her from outside except to potty for now and have new GOGGLES ordered that she will be required to wear from now on in order to be outdoors and especially in the pool! We knew that there was risk of sunburning her skin but had never had a problem before now.....
Try getting some echinacea, and making a mild tea to wash her eyes out with.. If there's any infection at all, it will clear it.

she didn’t do it last night so hopefully that’s a sign that she has had some healing....we leave a lamp on in the living room for her at night....i have lights on the deck as i think it was more of an outside thing because i didn’t leave the outdoor lights on sunday night. i may try the solar lamps on the back porch though as i also had solar lamps mounted on the fence posts but they died on me after a year or so.
