I offed my cuckoo Lav Orp. He was tearing up the girls to bad so his head ended up in a feed bag and body went into soup pot. Problem solvedYes it’s a chicken!!! A gorgeous Lavender Orpington cockerel I hatched in November so I really don’t want to off himI’m hoping he’s just feeling his oats and doesn’t do it again lol
Yeah they only started yesterday and he doesn’t go after my dad. Yesterday I accidentally spooked the chicks and felt him hit my leg/got a tiny scrape. At first I thought it was an attack and gave a little chase. Then later realized no way he would attack me, must have gotten scared and crashed into me on accident. But now I think it was on purpose because today I walked to the coop and he charged me from behind from like 50 feet away.did the attacks just start recently?? my cockerels would only attack me and not dh......I’m starting to think it was my colorful chicken boots and painted toenails.....dh also thought it may have had to do with my ponytail?? have you changed anything like that??
Yeah Jack is tearing up one of my girls so bad and I feel awful but he’s so handsome and good otherwiseI offed my cuckoo Lav Orp. He was tearing up the girls to bad so his head ended up in a feed bag and body went into soup pot. Problem solved

Maybe I’ll give them a go again. What do you figure 2 quail per adult on the dinner table?i love my quailies!! i keep around 50 in the aviary and while i’m not getting many eggs atm, my peak last year was 2-3 dozen per day. we typically butcher up to a dozen per month?? so yes definitely worth it
Funny thing is I didn’t do that either. I read how you weren’t supposed to make pets of them so I barely handled them as chicks and still now. He’s not cuddly or anything and is usually scared of me and runs away when I go near him soThere have been reports of turkeys attacking specific colors such as reds and blues.
None of my cockerels and roosters even attempt to take me on. But.. I never imprint or play with any of the poultry that I raise.
When I think of homegrown I think of stuff like cucumbers not eggs. Just bustin on her that’s all
Mine was great but just to big. Now I am switching over to have FBCM and my current FBCM Roo is great with chicks and he is very easy on the hens.Yeah Jack is tearing up one of my girls so bad and I feel awful but he’s so handsome and good otherwise![]()
Do you have an incubator?Maybe I’ll give them a go again. What do you figure 2 quail per adult on the dinner table?
should I get a little plucker for the quail? Or do you just skin them?
