Muddy can explain it better, but brushing is not enough.
brushing and flossing is good yes but diet and genetics play a part too.....cavities and periodontal disease are both caused by bacteria and are “contagious” the byproducts of these bacteria are acid soooo in a healthy mouth, the ph decreases with with the intake of sugar and will rebound in approximately 20 minutes. in an unhealthy mouth, the same ph decrease takes approximately an hour to rebound.....therefore if you sip sugary drinks or eat sugary snacks all day, the ph never rebounds, and you are constantly feeding the bacteria!! in this situation, brushing can actually spread the cavities to other teeth in your mouth!

Holy moly I never knew that!! :eek: I did actually get this book though like last year or something (I swore it was more recently) that I never read called the Dental Diet or something like that and it sounded really interesting.
