bird chores done and showered!! i collected 30 eggs today! :wee
I did the same thing a bit earlier ... and started to panic because today makes three days in a row that I have found NO eggs. I was ready to start vent-probing and/or medicating when I discovered the bucket of eggs inside the back door. DD has been collecting them and not telling me. Since when do teenagers start doing their chores - even partway - without reminders? She must want something!

I do have to qualify the "no eggs," situation to note the single egg I found. My isolated roo (in his inherited see-no-touch-yet run, unearthed it while scratching. It's been over a month since there was a hen in that run. I'm afraid to pick the litttle bomb up, as it's likely to explode as soon as I touch it! The run floor is dirt, with a bit of mulch and compost in it. Any suggestions on a safe defusion technique are welcome!

My entry for homemade is really DH's - homemade chick burrito :) Hatched a stargazer, I gave it a couple doses of B12 but when I was leaving for work it was still struggling, so I asked DH to dip its beak in the water every couple of hours. He picked the chick up and asked if he would be warm enough to just hold it for a while. I said, "Sure!" He decided this might help keep its little head in position while he computed. Even longer story short, the chick is doing much better, standing straight, a little wobbly yet, but preening and scratching and hopefully soon to eat and drink on his own, if not I'll feed him some baby bird formula before bed tonight.
