Kiki's White Trash and or Nerdy Birthday Bash Funeral

They're just a buncha chickens to be that way!
In my defense, though. My Nankins walk on leashes because they are part of a breed conservation program. Pre-Covid, I often traveled to schools, 4H clubs and other youth groups to do presentations on what it means to conserve a breed and why it's important. As members of a critically endangered chicken breed, my birds go right into the classroom with me. Nankins are VERY good flyers and the Ag classrooms are open, so that leash is important ... unless we want to play "Catch The Chicken."

And as far as them being stressed over the leash (a simple body harness with a short catch-cord, like a hawk's jesses,) I think it's a safe bet to say that my birds are okay with it. Once it's on, they pay no attention to it at all. They preen and dance and flirt and chatter with anyone who holds out a hand. It's pretty cool, especially when it's one of my showier roosters! I especially like to take along The Boys. They tend to be the most social of my birds, so the friendly interaction goes a long way to dispel the "Mean Vicious Cockfighting Rooster-Birds" stereotype. My ambassador roosters aren't mean at all. They're food-mooching clowns who purr when you massage the backs of their necks.

As a direct result of my boys' ambassador efforts, we've placed breeding pairs with several committed young Ag students. Because The Boys flirted and snuggled on their leashes, there are now at least 35 more Nankins in the world, and quite a few people who now understand why it's important to conserve our Heritage Breeds.

So ... if I DO build a kennel stroller, it most likely won't be for my chickens. It'll be for my ancient little pooch who is finding it harder and harder to keep up with Crazy Dog on outings, but can't bear to be left behind. Of course, if I DO build it, I'll have to take at least ONE picture with s chicken in it. After all, I still have a reputation to maintain ... Crazy Chicken People are like that, y'know! :D
If the stroller is too much trouble you could always use a backpack.

Faker dogs for sure. I know all about them - they pee and crap in your house. :rant

Loved Perth! Although the trip to Rottnest island was my favorite. Gorgeous beaches and the little quokkas were too cute :love

Meeting is the for the International Council of Archaeozoologists. All the coolest ancient critter specialists will be there  Solely for the awesome meetings of course, and not just because it is in Cairns this time.
That island looks super cool!!! Just looked it up! :D and quokkas. Man, those things are cute!!

Meeting sounds amazing!! :love hope you can go!

The first time we took DD into the swamp for a houseboat weekend, she had to wear earmuffs to sleep. She said the frogs were too loud and she couldn't sleep.
After living off the grid on a houseboat for a couple of years, I went to visit my parents in the city. I had to sleep on the back porch for a couple of nights because inside the house was way too quite! :lau

That wouldn't be the kinda noise I could sleep to.
We get crickets and frogs but I love the sounds of the coyotes. We get them from three sides and it isn't just howling at the moon. They make some wicked crazy noise
