Killed my chick, more to do...(graphic detail)

i am not trying to make you guilty but... wouldn't it be easier to snap it's neck and less painfull for you and the chick??

I am so sorry Stormhorse for what you and those babies are going through. :aww It must be very draining and upsetting for you, especially growing attached to them while trying to nurse them back to health. Please know that while even tho everyone doesn't "do the deed" in the same manner, you are doing right by those suffering chicks and ending it quickly for them. Again, I am very sorry and hope this is over for you soon.

I dont think she felt pain. Sorry for the following sentences....warned you

Her head was not actually crushed. It was like she just went away on impact. I thought there would be blood or more fluids, but no. And I was afraid snapping her neck might make a noise. I am not squeamish at all, but I can't stand 'bone' noises.

Yeah, I've never actually killed something that was a pet (accediental fish killings dont count). It makes me feel so helpless. Its like "Im responsible for them, and I should be able to treat them." Like they look to me to make the pain stop, and I cant even do anything. This is the only way I can make them 'better.' When I pick them up....they trust me not to hurt them and then I do this.

I hate killing anything but if Meats low in the freeser you got to do hat you gota do right ?, or I cant watch an animal suffer.

I get a little dizzy thinking about actually eating dead thing. Not my thing. I'd rather have them used for good reason instead of die so young like this, though. A 'friend' of my mom's had two bull heads (fur and all) in the back of her truck, once!

Stormhorse, God bless you. I'm so sorry. Been reading about your wee ones struggles in different threads. You made the kindest, hardest, right decision.

Thank you. I just dont know how to help them. I think it is brooder phenomia(did i spell that right?) and if so, there isnt a cure. so what? i just have to watch them die? I dont know if this is from the shipping, the hatchery, or me? Here is my care and I want you all to tell me if you think ANYTHING is wrong that i might not be seeing.

~Food- Purina medicated chick feed. They have a constant supply. I keep it dry unless one is weak, then I will make it mash so it eats more easily. is that ok?
~Light- 250 watt red light. Kept well away but so I still feel heat. on my hands. I'm guessing 90 degrees or really high eighties. If i lower it, they pant, so i think im right where it needs to be
~Water- constant supply. recently started putting some terayth...somthing in there. followed directions of package. BUT sometimes their bedding gets in there. I clean it out, but could that cause something?
~Bedding- an accediental puchase of cedar bedding early on, but they are now on PINE. they still keep getting sick?
~Brooder- plastic tub. fairly large. sick ones seperated into another plastic tub

I think maybe the shavings getting in the water? I dont know
