That’s what we have but maybe it doesn’t go high enough .. it helps a little... still mess all around but I guess not as much as without it...
@oldhenlikesdogs thanks! I’ll just try few different things and see if anything works.. if not.. oh well, no biggie..

Ahh okay. I wasn’t sure cause I know they make a lot of different seed guards. I don’t think those little plastic things would do much of anything lol

And yeah idk. Not sure there’s any way to completely eliminate the mess haha

I wish I could have an outdoor aviary.

But I’m thinking of buying a flight cage and putting like 4-6 in there haha

Well, I keep going back and forth as to where should I keep the new cage.. in the game room where they are now or on the back porch...? I am building it meant for outdoors but wondering about winter and preds... we get opossums a lot.. they won’t be able to get into the cage.. it’s more the harassing at night that I’m concerned with... and I was thinking that when it gets cold I could put a heat lamp... Growing up my neighbor had a huge aviary with lots of parakeets and they were always fine outdoors...
I may actually not have a choice as I think what we’ve built so far won’t fit through the door ... and was planning on settling traps for the critters.... what do yall think..

I think they should be fine outdoors but idk for sure. But I do know some people that have them outside build like a huddle box/fully enclosed type area for them to go in and stay warmer and/or have it connect to the inside or something like that. So maybe you could do that? And/or cover it at night?

Right.. I am trying to come up with some type of covering that I can put on at night.. really mainly just for the top half.. as it’s pretty tall.. that way they won’t get scared up there and they will be safe... this is what we have so far.. the top is framed in now too...

Hmmm... maybe some kind of tarp or curtain? Or could you buy a cage cover and put it on? You might be able to get one that would fit pretty well and then maybe stop a certain distance down cause it’d be too short but would work for the top? Or maybe even some sort of shade cloth or privacy screen or something? Cause then that way it might block their view but they’d still get air?

Thanks for the tips/ideas... I was also thinking putting hooks on the three front sides as the back side will be up against the wall.. and drilling holes in some thin plywood that I can just hang from the hooks on each side... does that make sense..? Also, was debating to put a solid piece of wood over the top which would help protect them or put wire.. which would aid in the hanging of toys and swings and whatnot

That makes sense and I think it’s a good idea!!

And hmmm... maybe both? Wire on top with plywood on hinges on top of it??
