It would work, but so would any of the way cheaper ones. Anything plastic you'll have to weight or screw down anyway so square shapes are your buddy.

Would probably work. Always consider though “how easy is this thing going to be to clean?”

Chickens make a mess of nearly everything.

I use white plastic dish tubs from the kitchen section of Walmart. They come in different sizes too.
I love them.
So easy to keep clean. A little dish soap and a squirt from a hose.
Also nice to dump out shavings then take a quick look inside to see if any lice or mites are walking around in there.

People here use all kinds of things for nesting boxes!

depending on the birds I could see using the tubs I did cut the front for them to have
the top and sides they like having the privacy but admit they are use to them

Would it work?....probably.
Is it the best choice?...no.
It's kinda pricey....and would be hard to get the eggs.

If you want a plastic nest to purchase, why not buy one made for chickens?

They make excellent 'broody boxes'. The hens lay in them, and when they go broody it is possible to move the entire box to a safe brooding coop or area.
