Knee Replacement? Please share your experiences.

Thank you all again for all the support. I unfortunately was never able to have kids so I don't know what that is like nor do I have much support beyond my husband, but he is a really great man who helps to keep my head above water through all my troubles.

It will be 4 weeks tomorrow, but feels like 6 months.

I'm not someone who likes to sit around or just watch from the sidelines. Of course that's probably the reason why I have so much arthritis at such a young age. I see a dirty sink or floor and I just want to clean it, an empty food bowl or water bucket has to get refilled. So I do need to sit down more and take it easy. I will try, but will still vacuum my house daily, I can't take all the dog hair building up.

I have had several friends and relatives who have had one or both knees replaced. Like everyone else says, it hurts like heck for a while, but if you do your rehab and exercises faithfully the outcome is great and you will be glad you did it. I have never talked to anyone who had any regrets.

Thank you for that, now I have to just hang in there and get there.

Just another thing....since I've been recovering from transplant, I've spent more time just observing my animals. Can only watch so much Netflix, you know? So it's chicken and dog TV. I've learned a lot about them, before I was more "get them taken care of and move on to the next thing". Now it's "do a few chores, pull up a chair, maybe read a book for a few chapters, then do a few more chores"...something like that. Just trying to put a good spin on it for you

I think having the animals, while it may stress us, also helps a ton for rehab. I know there were days I might well have pulled the covers over my head and spent the day in bed, but I had to get up and feed everyone. And then once I was up, it was easier to stay up and moving. But had I not had to get up in the first place, I might be in a whole nother place right now.

You can come her and vacuum, if you want

I think without all my critters I would never get out of bed, so they are a great motivator. I also hate missing out on anything. I don't know how people live without some sort of animals in their lives.

I love vacuums and vacuuming, it's very cleansing to me, a wipe the slate clean every morning sort of thing. It's one of the first things I do in the morning.

Hit a huge milestone today at therapy, I got the pedals all the way around on the bike, woohoo. Only one visit to therapy next week, so I have to keep up my stretching and exercises. I also am done with my cane and am working on walking up and down steps normally. I think I'm finally getting somewhere.

You are getting there. Wherever 'there' might be.

I hope I'm getting where I'm trying to go finally. I also forgot to mention I drove myself to therapy, that was a big thing too, so senior moment about that.
