That's how Jax is. I show him a whole egg, he stiffs it and waits for me to open it for the "treat" inside. I just crack em open and add him to his food.
Just make sure he doesn't know where they're coming from, if you give him whole eggs. Our dog started sneaking them out of the coop when we weren't looking.
We don't have a chicken door on the coop (well house, actually they occupy the back half), so the big door usually stays open when they girls are out. I'm sure Jax is much more well-behaved, though!
As long as your dog does not seem to have issues with it I would give them to him. the calcium/phospherous ratio is correct and a good addtion to his diet for health and coat. Give him the entire egg. Is this the only raw food your dog gets or is there more?
Mine is raw-fed and I sometimes give him 6 eggs a day. For the most part he will get one every other day or so. If I have allot of eggs, I will occasionally boil a bunch and give those to him. If they are cooked he won't eat the shells-only the raw shells will he eat.
My dogs get one egg per day - the dirty or defective bantam ones. Apparently as I noted on another thread you give the big girl an inch and she took 11 or 12 last night. It seems to help their coats.
I also give them occasionally to the cats - they seem somewhat disinterested in them - would rather have the puppy food.
