Kristen’s Chickens and Farming Ventures

Hi Bob:frow (it so not morning by any stretch of imagination here right now  I missed you this morning, I’m late... very late)

Mostly because we (I “volunteered” my mother) got the plastic down in the crawlspace over the last two days. Now I’m just praying the rains hold off long enough to get concrete in, because I also got the “ok to pour” from the building department! Only an hour or so after I sent them these pictures... I suppose they have decided that even though I’m technically not a part of the build (dumb regulations about landownership putting FIL “in charge”) dealing with me is far preferable to my FIL

So here’s what I’ve been up to recently:

Now we’re just praying we can get the concrete in before the roads turn to a total mud pit, and this lovely plastic barrier creates a red-neck swimming pool a foot or two deep!

Well done you guys, that looks great! I'm glad the building department is willing to work with you without FIL. I hope things continue to go smoothly and FIL has such a good time on holidays he decides to stay for another month! :fl

Hi everyone, some sad news tonight. When I went to put up the chickens I found Mr Eyebrows, recently passed and lying under the lowest roost. I’m not sure exactly what happened to him, but he was definitely not doing as well as he was before the tail plucking incident. He never fully bounced back. We had our burnpile lit and it was quite hot, so we gave him a good funeral pyre. I don’t think there will be anything left tomorrow. It was one of those 6 foot high and 8 feet across piles.

As for the other news, FIL is back in the country, and will probably be back on the farm this week. He seems
to be in a much better mood. We will get our final pour done, hopefully at the end of this week or beginning of the next, weather willing.

Sorry that you have lost Mr. Eyebrow's! :hugs Too bad you didn't have more time without your FIL in the way before you got the rest of the cement in.

Thanks, @BlueBaby he was a good Rooster, beautiful, and Bb or BB for blue eggs, so it is quite a disappointment. I’m debating moving either Bob or Barney in with his girls, I don’t want to risk Sammy in there, but I also don’t want to upset the existing peaceful flock dynamic in with Bob, and Barney has been doing so well with the Littles...

Kris all your work and hard efforts and really tiring me out, will have to take a nap soon. You young folks really keep at it. I figure I am due for a re-charge.

I agree. I feel like a lay-about. Geeze cut us break and have a beer or something!
;)

I'm so sorry about Mr. Eyebrows. :hugs

Decision's, decisions...Don't tell me that you need another rooster!

So sorry to hear that Kris :hugs. He sounded like a lovely boy. I'm glad you were able to give him a heroic Viking send off.:)

Hope the pour goes off without a hitch asap. :fl
