Shelleyd2008 - Were there alot of good, healthy birds at the casey county auction? And what about a nice assortment of different breeds?

Just wondering, since you've been! Gotta know if the trip is 'worthwhile' ^_^

Just about any type of bird you could think of!! I was mostly interested in bantams, but there were a lot of RIR, NHR, brahmas, delawares, orps, just about anything! And there are turkeys, geese, ducks, peafowl, quail, pheasant...so many things!! I didn't see any that were obviously sick, nothing like Sano auction. There are times there when the birds look like they would drop dead at any moment!! It is definitely worth the trip!! There was a pair of self blue OEGB there last year that I wanted sooooo bad!! I think they went for $18 or $19 per bird, so close to $40 for the pair!! Too rich for my blood!!

That is the same day as the Swap in Frankfort isn't it? Might just have to change plans and see whats up at the Liberty Sale.

Will the swap in Paris still take place with this weather??
What do you do with chicks you want to sell when it is this cold??

Do you all know of anyone around Lexington who has Easter Eggers (or even better, real Ameraucanas) hatching any time soon? I might just get some EE chicks from TSC, but I would rather buy from a local person...I'm looking for green or blue eggs and friendly personality.

I just put some Americana/EE eggs in the bator I borrowed yesterday. I live in Georgetown, just off Ironworks. We can let you know when they hatch. WE just bought 13 hens and a roo from a guy in Leesburg. I also have a pair of Ameraucana bantams, but they lay smaller eggs....

If I haven't found any by the time they hatch I'll definitely want some!

I just realized I never replied to your PM! I hope my roos are doing good in their new home.

I still have the 3 other roos but I'm keeping them for now. I can't decide which of them I want to give up, and none of them are crowing at all for some reason.
