Thank u...with orally how often? Every day? Twice a day? Just needing others experiencesI have used LA 200 orally and injections. Orally I do 1 ml for average 5 pound chicken. I pull it out of bottle with syringe, squirt it on bread, add a dab or sugar or apple butter for taste...and feed it to the bird.
While it IS broad spectrum...some ailments it won't cure. But you know that.
I too would give it a try if that's what I had available.
Good Luck with them!
That's a huge dose, but very good info to have, thanks for sharing.I have used LA 200 orally and injections. Orally I do 1 ml for average 5 pound chicken.
I agree, unlikely to treat E.coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, both are common respiratory infections. While it IS broad spectrum...some ailments it won't cure. But you know that.

You know antibiotics don't treat viruses, right?my thoughts too however as stated I’m pretty sure it’s not bacterial. Which is why I chose this one.![]()
Lol, then that’s not an option for you.The dose I found is for full sized chicken so I broke it down per pound. It can be given orally or injecting...I would literally vomit and pass out if I had to inject...so literally for my sake no I will NOT inject. I understand what you are saying however I was looking for someone who may have a better idea of dose/how many times, how many days etc.
As I stated no vet here for poultry also please do not attack me and my thought process I had done lots of research on poultry sites and 1 stated u can do half twice a day. Necropsy is out of question as again husband disabled....single person income family of 4. School clothes, supplies, not to mention car repairs bc crap happens and rds suck. I again am not in the position for necropsy. Once again I’m not blindly medicating! If I were to follow dosing info it would be “if giving orally increase dosage and frequency” so u tell me then. Which again is why I posted here looking for answers/guidance from those who have experience. If you cannot be nice nor have any experience with the dosing please move on. It’s frustrating as it is...i don’t need ppl belittling me bc I chose a certain antibiotic. I chose it for a reason. I understand there are many ppl who blindly give meds...as I stated before I’m. not one of those ppl. Pretty sure its MG...have had it last year...same symptoms/outcome. Trying to give the other 2 a fighting chance...I’ve said this over and over. I chose this bc it treats what I’m pretty sure whats moving through my birds.Lol, then that’s not an option for you.
as @casportpony mentioned, the best thing would be to send off for necropsy rather than spending money on medications that probably won’t help (if you have another die or need to cull).
Do you have a vet nearby that may be willing to have a phone conversation with you? Some vets are great that way and can give a bit better of an idea of what direction to go in, without necessarily having to go in for a visit.
That’s what’s so frustrating when trying to come up with a treatment plan for poultry owners in my area; necropsy here is nowhere near $30. If it was, we would be able to do a lot more to help! Most people around here would be looking at close to $300 to send a bird off and the subsequent testing once it arrived at the lab.
And treating with a broad spectrum antibiotic just because you have it... well, that’s why Canada now has laws in place that make it impossible to purchase antimicrobials over the counter...
Also, if you’re going to dose, follow the actual dosing instructions. Don’t break up doses into smaller amounts unless that’s the actual dose, or it’s been shown to be able to be done safely and still be effective, because otherwise you’re just underdosing at each time. There’s a reason for a calculated dose, duration, route, and length of treatment for every drug. The amount of times people have come back angry because they didn’t follow instructions and the problem never resolved, let me tell ya.Certain things like Baytril can have the total daily dose broken up into multiple smaller doses for ease of use, but not everything works that way.
I strongly suggest you reach out to a large animal vet in your area if at all possible and ensure you’re moving in the right direction.
Oxytetracycline treats MG right?! I’m not dense honey I have done a lot of research chose this bc it can be given orally and treat MG....just hard to find an oral doseYou know antibiotics don't treat viruses, right?
IMO, it is not the best choice for treating mycoplasma, but if it's all you have, use it.I chose this bc it treats what I’m pretty sure whats moving through my birds.
