LA-200 DOSING orally

As I stated no vet here for poultry also please do not attack me and my thought process I had done lots of research on poultry sites and 1 stated u can do half twice a day. Necropsy is out of question as again husband disabled....single person income family of 4. School clothes, supplies, not to mention car repairs bc crap happens and rds suck. I again am not in the position for necropsy. Once again I’m not blindly medicating! If I were to follow dosing info it would be “if giving orally increase dosage and frequency” so u tell me then. Which again is why I posted here looking for answers/guidance from those who have experience. If you cannot be nice nor have any experience with the dosing please move on. It’s frustrating as it is...i don’t need ppl belittling me bc I chose a certain antibiotic. I chose it for a reason. I understand there are many ppl who blindly give meds...as I stated before I’m. not one of those ppl. Pretty sure its MG...have had it last year...same symptoms/outcome. Trying to give the other 2 a fighting chance...I’ve said this over and over. I chose this bc it treats what I’m pretty sure whats moving through my birds.
Totally understand and agree with you.
Ultimately YOU are the one to decide your course of action. We are not there with the bird...you are.
Best of luck to you.
I myself keep antibiotics on hand....but don't go shooting up every animal I have "blindly".
Hope it turns out well.
I will keep my fingers crossed for you!

Thank you I appreciate it...if I were to do it blindly I would have done it when the first chicken got sick...but i separated and watched...I needed to figure out what I had and go from there. But now I’m at the point of needing to maintain it. I know it won’t cure it.

IMO, it is not the best choice for treating mycoplasma, but if it's all you have, use it.
Even the link you shared with me says oxytetracycline...and well...the more potent stuff u can’t buy here without a prescription and once again no poultry vet here...soooooo.....my next best choice is......l.yep oxytetracycline

Lots of research on poultry sites does not mean that information is correct. You need to make sure that the dosing you are using is correct or you are going to create a resistance problem for yourself, that’s all I’m saying. I’m sorry I didn’t see that you don’t have a poultry vet nearby, it’s hard for many who have birds but do not have a vet that will deal with “farm” animals. Although some veterinarians that handle “exotics” or other birds are sometimes willing to help with poultry as well; that’s your decision if you want to pursue that route at all.

You say you’re going to use the oxytetracycline regardless, so I don’t really see what you’re looking for from this forum, as you’re not willing to listen to any of the suggestions that are being made. The ones that are giving you different options that are more in line with what you think you have going on, you are rejecting.

No one is attacking you or your thought process, we are trying to help you. We understand that it’s difficult and you have many things that make it difficult for you in the current situation, above and beyond your sick birds. Use the information that casportpony has given you and do what you will.

I did not say that you specifically are “shooting up” your animals blindly but you need to be cognizant of what you’re working with and ensuring you don’t create more problems for YOURSELF for the future.

you already said you don’t actually know what it is you’re dealing with, so I’m not sure how your thought process works on somehow knowing after watching your bird get sicker, but good luck with them.

I stated I’m pretty sure it’s MG. By the symptoms just saying and I specifically asked about oral dosing of LA-200 I never asked for opinions on what I should or shouldn’t use. the title literally is LA-200 ORAL DOSING so.....I was hoping someone would give me their experience with dosing orally as the whole thing literally just says more and more frequent. Everyone keeps telling me I should use Baytril etc. but honestly I have to use what I can actually get. Oxytetracycline treats MG. I cannot inject. It makes me ill and pass out. So I had to find something to give orally. Which u can with LA-200 but dosing info is vague. so I was looking for someone with experience in the dosing. I’m not a vet but I was up till the wee hours doing research and chose what I feel is best for my situation and my birds.

maybe you could do some math... Powdered oxytetracyline is usually prescribed at 800 mg per gallon. Calculate how much a 5 pound chicken drinks in a day and to from there.

Ok so I will make this clear yes there are probably other things I could use...this is what I can get here where I am at that can be given orally. I am not looking to diagnose my birds. I’ve done lots of homework. I’ve had MG before...this is looking to be the same. You cannot fully know unless 1. Necropsy...no funds for that nor the time leave house 730 am arrive home 730 pm except sundays. No vet here treats poultry. Yes farm vets available...but none for poultry. I will not stomach an injection. This can be given orally. I’m looking for info on oral dosage for those who have used orally. that is it. No opinions needed on what I should be using. Keep in mind again this suits my needs and this is what I can get...unless you’d rather I use penicillin...so back to the original post does anyone know the oral dose for LA-200?
