LA-200 DOSING orally

Ok so I will make this clear yes there are probably other things I could use...this is what I can get here where I am at that can be given orally. I am not looking to diagnose my birds. I’ve done lots of homework. I’ve had MG before...this is looking to be the same. You cannot fully know unless 1. Necropsy...no funds for that nor the time leave house 730 am arrive home 730 pm except sundays. No vet here treats poultry. Yes farm vets available...but none for poultry. I will not stomach an injection. This can be given orally. I’m looking for info on oral dosage for those who have used orally. that is it. No opinions needed on what I should be using. Keep in mind again this suits my needs and this is what I can get...unless you’d rather I use penicillin...so back to the original post does anyone know the oral dose for LA-200?
I have never overdosed one yet :hmm on LA 200 using 1 ml orally once a day. I have used it when it didn't have Baytril or Tylan on hand. It is usually readily available at most feed type stores since it's for livestock...mostly cattle. I HAVE used it for a maintenance dose about every 6 months or so when i had a pet/favorite hen with flair ups. She died this summer...was several years old and still laying.

Just FYI...In the future if your circumstances allow and you want to...you can usually order injectables through some feed type stores. My local MFA Agricultural Store (local for me) orders for my needs from Valley Vet. You can look at their catalog online too.

Again, good luck and thanks for caring enough to try for them!:thumbsup

I don’t have the stomach to inject lol I took your 1ml and broke it down to about .10 per pound they were both a pound. I added a lil bit of sugar water and dripped drop at a time on beaks and as it rolled to the bottom they happily drank it :) so I’ll do this a couple days and see where we are. Thank you for not judging my decision. As I loaded up the meaties 2 had eyes glued shut and the others bubbles in the eyes. I honestly still stand by my decision to treat for MG. The processor also felt it was the same. (She’s had chickens for a long time) she said I could give them antibiotics and bring back 8n a couple weeks I declined. She will happily process them for me as it’s respiratory not affecting the meat. Fingers crossed I’ve got it contained.

No judgement from me. I've been in your shoes! You do what you can the best that you can!
When we first started with chickens we did meaties (Cornish cross) because people DH worked with did....two years of it and we were done! We still raise birds for meat...our own hatched extra roosters. I've never regretted the switch from the CX. We came here for advice on that too! We also went the route of a few auction hens. That also met with poor consequences. Introduced something resp. to or small flock. We have lived and learned...sometimes the hard way...but we do the best we can with the resources we have!
We now have a flock of approximatey100 free range chickens. The newest are 3 days old! I have low priced production reds to shipped Buff Laced Brahma eggs that cost me very dearly! Hatchery, home hatched crosses, and now 5 rescue ex battery hens...we love them all and will do the best we can for them within our means. They have given us much more in life than we give them!
Also....I have come to backyard chickens site for things several times. I have found most everyone very willing to help and not judge. I'm fairly new to chickens myself and still like to seek the advice of seasoned and educated folks on here. Please don't let someone who may have rubbed you wrong spoil you against the site. I value their opinions...whether I agree or not.

Thank you I appreciate it. I just felt attacked yesterday when all I was looking for was someone who could point me in the right direction for oral dosing. It led to I should use this or that etc. and even I shouldn’t be treating for MG I need necropsy or vet visit. All that is out of my control at the moment. What is in my control is symptoms and experience in the past with this disease. I cannot be there to mix in water with what I had done before because I’m gone so long. I needed something to give orally once or twice a day and not inject as....I’d wake up in vomit and poop lol this fit the bill for me. I love this site and everyone is usually so helpful I just needed one thing answered by someone who has used it. Not a million other things I could use which btw I’d have to order and most like
y wouldn’t be here in time as postal deliveries have been horribly late these covid days! So I appreciate the info and experience you had given me which led to a dose for my 2 lil girls :) 1 seems to be doing great no sign of runny nose eyes or a sneeze today. The other no sneeze but does have a runny nose. So I will dose a couple more days for them both and most likely stop the one who isn’t showing signs and judge the other based on progress. This literally is all I have and can do for them. Give them the best chance. The one not showing symptoms is so tiny she’s a 1lb almost 6month old welsummer. Yes 1lb she just stopped growing her feathers have come in only partially full. shes a failure to thrive case that is still running around like a normal chicken I fear once she comes of laying age she will not make it. My daughter loves her so we make her days happy as can be. We give her extra goodies and vitamins..she’s spoiled rotten lol we just do what we can

Pew wishes you luck too!
Light Brahma x Silver Spangled Appenzeller Spitzhauben. She's my buddy!
Here is Hazel the welsummer almost 6 mo next to Notburga the spitz at 2 mo

Update: Notburga (the sneezer runny eyes and nose) hasn’t sneezed since Monday and her runny eyes are back to normal she still has a bit of runny nose so I may still administer orally the LA-200 for a few more days. Hazel the tiny welsummer is not showing symptoms so I will no longer administer the antibiotic. :)

Background...just lost a 2 month old spitzhauben last night. I have a mixed age flock and some Cornish cross. The meaties literally were sleeping in the poop board face first in poop. I had tried every way possible to stop this to no avail. Long story short they all have become sick (lost 2 have them isolated) with a resp. Infection of some sort. They go this evening to butcher. One of my spitzhaubens started sneezing and gasping for air yesterday. I isolated her, her hatch mate and a very tiny 5 month old welsummer who despite all odds is still alive. I isolated them all together as I assumed since they spend all day every day together they too were exposed. And I was correct the other spitzhauben started sneezing last night Shortly after I lost the other. I have tetracycline in water but not sure it’s enough I wanted to grab something I can actually administer and know they are getting enough. From a poultry med website it says 1/2 to 1/4 cc (inject) then again 2-4 days...for orally it said just administer more, more often. So I assume this dose is for a full size chicken which they aren’t. They are about a lb, lb and a half (plan to weigh before administering. I CANNOT stomach using a needle and was hoping to find an actual oral dose by weight. Thank you in advance for any info you may have.
