I'm actually so glad that I decided on a mixed flock because they all are so different. But...
my favorite is the Delaware. She's beautiful, great layer, calm, very friendly, easily handled and not aggressive towards other birds.
Here's my take on the others:
Red sex link - Great layer, friendly (sometimes too friendly- is always jumping up to me for treats and when I'm trying to clean), easily handled, can be bossy with the other chickens. probably the most active of the bunch
Rhode Island Red - Great layer, rich beautiful coloring, calm and docile but can be cautious.
Silver Laced Wyandotte - Beautiful bold feathers, good layer, similar to RIR calm, docile but can be cautious.
Buff Orpington - Sweet, sweet pretty bird, good layer, easily handled, can be bullied.
Ameraucana - Blue eggs! (although she took FOREVER to lay), loudest of the bunch, sometimes she is friendly and calm and sometimes she is more on the nervous side ? I like her coloring and muffs.
Golden Laced Cochin (bantam) - beautiful bold coloring and fluffly legs and butt!, poor layer, she just hangs out and looks good
So that's my story. It is tricky because they can vary so much within the breed.
