Landrace project F1 chicks!!!

Just found this thread. Very interesting stuff! Are you not incorporating the birchen into the landrace project because it has too much white for free ranging or is it something else? I might have missed it. I have an almost completely white landrace rooster and I plan on letting him make as many babies as he likes because he is just a brilliant rooster.

I'm trying to get it out of the gene pool because the gene is very dominant and have look fairly similar to an extended black bird that's mixed with wheaten or partridge drown. Birchen could end up becoming the only color present if i accidently breed split birchen birds together

That's really cool! What kind of Landrace is he?

He is from a landrace my friends accidentally created—not one that is known/documented. They call them “apocalypse chickens” because they are hardy and roost in trees instead of a coop. They are a few hours south of me so same climate/vegetation, etc. I know they have EEs and game fowl of some kind and he definitely has EE in him because he has little muffs.

He's so gorgeous! That's crazy cool too!

Currently I'm starting a new hatch from the Birchen hens which have been laying the most gorgeous green eggs! I'm hoping to get F2 birds who are slightly smaller and I'll also be selecting hens that have white and blue egg genes since Vadakor has one white egg gene! I'll be doing genetic testing on a few of the absolute best males to select ones with white and blue egg genes. My hope is that I can get the the blue egg gene to breed true! The eggs should hatch around the last week of November, but in the mean time I just wanna show y'all these wonderful birds and their eggs!!!

Okay so all but two of the green eggs have hatched!!! All black, none with deep red in the face, all cute, all adorable... But one... IS ALL WHITE!!! I have genuinely zero understanding as to how this is possible, but perhaps it's something like silver wheaten since it's still wet. It has the tiiiiiiniest bit of black around the eyes so idk
