And! The photos!!!

First up is "Mongo". He is a white split that will be put over the whites in order to increase size and conformation. He's quite the ham...
He was born..let's see, April 2011

He has nice, smooth lines along the back and the tail is an improvement on the whites.

Standing in the distance. He's got good leg length on him already!

His back is fairly long and he has a decent U when he's standing right...it's not as good as a pure black bird.

Black female that has the stance I'm after:

Blue cock. Sire of "Mongo" and breeder extraordinaire!

They had quite a hard winter...poor blue male. He just looks wonky without a comb. He's also SHORT. That's what happens when you raise without lighting in the OK winters. But his fertility rate is amazing...haha!

Thank you for your compliments! The black female, Shadow, she is breathtaking when she is in condition. She's somewhere between being the best layer and debating on going broody. Either that or she's faking being broody so that the male's won't top her. The blue male doesn't buy it for a second. I have 10 females in there and all of them are being ridden like a fat pony.

I'm hoping to get several good chicks from Shadow. Can't wait to get some whites out from Mongo. All blacks from his will be culled. Hate to do it, but I won't sacrifice good blacks and accidentally breed in something I'm not certain about.

Way to go, breed up whites with the blacks and scrap the rest, sounds like you are sticking to your guns and that is what it takes to improve a variety. On another note, sure am gonna miss you guys and congratulations in advance on your upcoming wedding, may God bless your marriage.

Blessings to you,

Bo

Hopefully we'll be coming back in 5 years or so. Either way, you should FEEL what it's like up here! Humidity is zilch! It's 90* and it feels like 75-80*! One week it did get up to 95 and the creek was looking really good at that point.

I hate to cull a chick out of the egg (they work hard to get out), but why waste feed, time and space? If only the blacks weren't so hard to tell from the whites when they hatch out! Thank you for the thoughts and blessings! We should be back down in September for the wedding, but probably won't be doing anything other than the wedding and heading out with horse in tow. Should be a fun trip back!
