Laree's "I CAN'T STOP MYSELF FROM HATCHING!!!" Hatch-a-long

If you're going to hide over that, I need to crawl in a hole somewhere

I've been hatching for at least a week straight and haven't cleaned it yet. I've got a couple days before the next hatch is due (don't know how I managed that one

), so I'll clean the stinkubator probably tomorrow

ETA: The good thing about having a separate hatcher is you don't have to wait for it to dry. So if you have to do a quick clean before popping some more eggs in you are good to go!

My broody#1 did a good job last night! Lots of little chicks under her

I think there is only 3 eggs left to go out of 17. It's hard to tell as I don't want to lift her up all the way as some of the eggs are still hatching and I was going by feel. I pulled most of the egg shells to allow for some more room for all the chicks. There was one accident yesterday. She stepped on the first chick to hatch and smashed him. I found him yesterday and he didn't make it.

I still have only 1 chick. NOne of the others are doing anything!!! I'm soo worried. Today is day 21, but i've never had a hatch where one hatched soooo long before the others did anything. Is this normal? Should I candle? Ok...I know the answer...I should just wait. Ugghhh.. The poor guy is the loudest most obnoxious chick ever. We had to move the incubator into the living room because he is sooo loud. I think he's lonely. I hope he's not the only one.

My pair of broodies were both setting on 6 eggs since approx 4/30, so I was expecting chicks around 5/21. And sure enough on that day, there were 2 chicks! Haven't seen anymore since, so I briefly peeked under the girls to see who had what eggs (they were always stealing them back & forth when the other would get up. LOL!) Well, the orp had 2 and the bantam brahma had... 8!!! At some point the other girls had squeezed into their enclosure and laid more eggs instead of using their next boxes. Ugh! Now, I don't know how long they've been there and when to expect chicks. I mean, I don't want the 2 broody girls to have to stay on eggs indefinitely! I was thinking of giving them a couple more days and then throwing them into the incubator with the eggs that are due 5/31. I realized I may be moving them at a delicate stage, humidity-wise, and not knowing when to quit turning them...
