Laree's "I CAN'T STOP MYSELF FROM HATCHING!!!" Hatch-a-long

Funniest chicken picture... the chick that ate a golf ball (not really, just a piggy turken)

Like the chick vs. golfball

I think my hatch is finished. Of the 12 that made it to lockdown, 9 have hatched: 8 shipped olive-eggers, and 1 rare fertile egg of my own (welsummer x infertile EE roo). Of the 2 shipped eggs under the broody, 1 hatched and died

, but the other made it, so FINALLY maybe my broody hen will get out of the nest.

Here are the first 6 that hatched. I think I may float test the remaining 3 eggs, as nothing has happened in a long time.

Hatched 2 of the 3 guinea eggs and so far I have 6 of 10 ducklings hatched. Another was zipping so that number should soon change. I also moved the 2 turkey eggs and 12 of the pheasant eggs to the hatcher today....my bator is getting a little low. Good thing I have another 9 pheasant, 17 duck, and 9 guinea eggs to put in it

Men...can't live with em' can't live without em'. I just love watching roos interact with other chickens. Especially other males. So much competition, foot stomping, and flaunting of manly abilities. When we got our first roo, he was over a year old. My husband and son were watching him when he wasted no time jumping on my poor innocent girls. My son (who was 4 at the time) said, Daddy, I think Bosco likes playing football because he just tackled Virginia.

I have lots of chest bumping going on in the "littles" brooder. In the older brooder they have taken to dive bombing each other. They sure are fun to watch.

My tweenies are in the "too big for their britches" stage. When they were younger, I needed a place for my full grown roo. He is such a sweet boy I thought i would try him in with the tweenies. Well he was a fine babysitter. Several chicks ran right up to him and chest bumped him in the shin. He would look down at them and back at me as if to say, "your kidding me right? Is this some sort of sick joke?" He is so tolerant.
