It only survived 5 days. Was scooping to eat, and drinking from a water bottle and feisty as all get out, but at 5 days was found dead.

everyone told me to cull it, but with being such a fighter I couldn't.

And I lifted up buff orphington today to make her fat butt get out of the nest and one of her eggs was hatching! Holy moly I must be off on my dates cause I didn't think she was due until the 27th.

She pecked me. Hard. Multiple times.


When she's done all that's left is my 24 eggs in the incubator due in a week.

And then I'm done hatching. I promise. Unless anyone has some speckled sussex eggs... or something really cool looking... or neat colored eggs...



By the way can I just go on record of stating how excited I am that the end of the world is now "officially" marked for my 30th birthday?

Agree on the crosses, I absolutely love mine, I think they're beautiful but so very hard to sell, especially when some are turken.

I have one speckled sussex, who is just the love of my life. Yes, I said it... I'm in love with a chicken. I think I'm on the right board for that, though. I'd love to have more like her, she's beautiful, funny and full of personality. She lays terribly, though. It took her 10 months to lay her first egg!
