Here is a picture of it.

My son was able to help post a pic. It feels soft, not exactly squishy.

She just drank freely from a cup and accepted some soft oatmeal and greens.

Thanks everyone.

It has now been 25 hours since I brought her into the house. Last report after posting pic is that she continues to drink freely, has loved the lettuce put before her and her stools are normal color, just a bit watery. Three stools today.

Any comments?

Thank you

Do you think she plucked out her feathers? does it feel hot like infection? I am sorry but I am stumped. She is eating and drinking which is great, but it doesn't look good- talking about the pic. not the out come because I don't know about that.

Hello,
She is not and has not been pecking at the area. Her crop area is beginning to fill up as well. I'm not feeling hopeful, but staying attentive.

Thanks everyone

Hello Everyone,
Today she still has the bulge below vent, slightly bulged crop/neck. Great appetite. I work in the mornings so Husband attended this AM
he reports ate soft oatmeal and H2O. I just gave her soft oatmeal and cooked rice with yogurt. She is friendly and alert, produces poop which looks normal, just slightly watery but good color.

Thanks everyone.

Hi, if she has eaten her crop will fill up should be flat in the morning. She has me stumped, she has a good appetite and normal poop and is drinking water, what more could you want? lol. I know no bulge. Is she on the plump side anyway? could it just be fat? Does it feel hot to the touch?

Hi Miss Lydia,
Well, this afternoon she had another nice warm 25 minute bath. After her warm bath she had a cocktail and we painted her nails........just kidding. Chicken spa.....

She did have a bath and back to the warm hut to dry off. She's been eating soft oatmeal yogurt. This afternoon I added water that had crushed
calcium tabs in it plus some of the Purina feed she is used to eating. She has really has a decent appetite.

While she was in the bath I donned a lubed glove and felt in her vent/cloaca about 1 1/4 - 1/2 in. She did not protest and I could not feel a thing. Her lower belly under the vent is still swollen and I did palpate the exterior and didn't feel anything. Her crop on the other hand
is very full, probably the size of an elongated lemon, and soft yet dense.

Thank you for your replies, it keeps me going!

Lori

You know, she is at the age of the first big molt, which may be why her bottom is bare. That happens with all my molting hens. As to what the bulge is, I'm not sure, but if you can't feel anything in the oviduct, then don't know if there's anything you can do.
