Large Fowl Cochin Thread

Okay, we are at 4 1/2 weeks. I have 3 I am pretty sure are boys, 3 I am pretty sure are girls but these two are keeping me guessing. I know it's early but it's fun to guess and see if you are right, I think.

What do you guys think? Boys or girls?

Whoo hoo! I just picked up 6 more LB eggs today for my new broody. Of course with all chicken math, the seller threw in 3 Frizzled Cochin eggs as well so now my girl is sitting on 9 eggs. Tomorrow will start the count down. Again, 21 days feels like forever!

I'm really happy for you!
but what is LB?

What do you think of my blues? I bought them about a month ago at a sale, and surprisingly they were local too
And if they would produce good color when crossed?

They are both 4 months old in these pictures

**Both their feet feathers are doing much better since they are getting free range time rather then sitting on wire all day

Beautiful. I bet they will make great babies.

Well, fingers crossed you are correct. We are getting ready to go on holiday so I will be off line for a while and when I get back, it should all be very clear. Good luck with yours. I'll touch base when I return.

Really happy to see a LARGE Cochin thread! I fell in love with the breed last year when we got a black "bonus chick" with our order from McMurray. We laughed ourselves silly over his big feet, and as he matured, we liked the body shape and temperament (even though he was a roo). I let a friend have "Bigfoot" for her large flock in the country, but missed him. So ordered three blue cochin hens this year - got one blue, one black, one splash, all with the blue gene. And got a splash roo as the bonus chick! Score! I'm hoping to raise a few chicks, but I'll have to house the cochins away from the rest of the flock.

Two weeks ago I found a couple of partridge cochins to add to my collection. So I'm in cochin heaven right now ---- can't stop watching them! This seems to be a seriously underappreciated breed, and the bantams I've seen just are NOT the same.
