Larkwell Valley (2023)

Just less birds out and about. I'm sure there's a difference in feed use if I paid attention too.
I'm sure that they also are a bit calmer at night without having quite as many taking up space, but the flocks all were just fine behaviorwise during the days, so there isn't much of a personality difference I'm seeing

Gosh dang it! I think Lilly is trying to develop angelwing. I can't figure out what's causing all of these! Is 20% protein really too much? This is the 3rd one this year, and a female at that! The other 4 I've done since last year have all been males.

I think that protein level has nothing to do with it. I feed 22% protein and have never had angelwing. These are all hatchery babies, right? Might be poor genetics...

Two seperate hatcheries. The scovies that had it came from one at different end of the country than the 2 calls and runner that have it. I've seen mixed comments on how much is genetic and how much is genetic for it.

It's not a big deal with the smaller ones, but gosh, I am getting a bit tired having to deal with it. Especially with how hot it is, I don't like wrapping birds when it's over 80

On the bright side, look at this puddle of ducklings.

Does anyone know what this ring is on this duckling? This was one of the 4 st run assorted ducklings I got from tsc, I'm assuming Rouen but mine last year never had any and just this one does. Is it a male?

One of my Khaki campbell x Rouen mix has that, and I think it's developing into a male.
But, I am unsure if it's a tall tail sign it's a male.
For me, I just like to wait till the males and females start quacking.
