Note to self, wash the bins before I let the ducks out next time. They barely let me get the jug emptied before they crowded me out

Should I be able to see signs of life in white duck eggs at about 7days?

Brooded. My Java (because she's a bird who would rather starve pacing than quit brooding) is on like 11-13, and I think it's a bit much for her, so I'd like to lessen the amount if she ends up having any duds.

On a different note, when I was putting the ducks away, it occurred to me from a survival and hunting standpoint how stupid it is to have a bright white patch on the throat. I have awful eyesight in the dark and I still could pinpoint where my drake was just by his bib in the dark

I noticed something similar with coloring on a dog, except that I thought of it as an advantage to the dog's owner to be able to see the white markings in the dark. A white tail tip looks kind of funny bouncing along in the dark when the black dog can't be seen
