From what I've been told, Calls are the only ones that you can have a 1:1 ratio with.

Yeah, I still wanted to have an extra or two on the female side, but unless I can find people with trios, that won't happen I guess.

Will using a mallard hen to make it a 1:1 ratio work?

I honestly don't know. I'm just starting out with Calls myself.

For the duck calculator, do I use Penciled for the fawn and white runners? Or something else? The picture looks like mine, but I've seen something completely different be called penciled.

Choose Fawn, then go to advanced and make them homozygous for R, the runner (aka pied) gene.

Gosh, I tried really hard to not let chicks hatch this year, and they just kept finding better spots to nest. I have like 15 babies that I'm going to have to cull later this year now because I couldn't find the hen or they were somewhere I couldn't get to until they had babies

Had a 3 month old I had to cull yesterday for mareks. Her cross was the one that was horribly susceptible to it, and she was the last one around.

Going to have to do a rooster day some time as well for culling. They're just too thick for the loppers to work in one time.

Having, thankfully, not had to deal with this, can you still consume the meat? Or give it to your dog or cat?

You can eat it, and I don't think they're are any effects if your animals eat it. The vast number I've been culling and my speed/time don't work out though, so we use them for feeding the coyotes and other critters. Usually only takes a night for them to disappear so long as the birds themselves weren't showing severe symptoms. It's interesting to notice that if a bird is sick enough with the virus that they no longer can stand, nothing will take them. Even out of 6 or 7 birds, if one was that sick, it will be the only one untouched the next morning.
