I think they are both pullets. I wouldn't send either to freezer camp for a while.
I've raised quite a few Orpingtons and they don't always look just alike or develop at the same pace.

I’m usually able to sex chickens, this batch is killing me though

Maybe my pictures didn’t show that, I see that in person though. Is it a male trait?
