I have some bantam chicks that i am keeping in for the winter. I dont have a basement though, so will deal with the dust! I am going to make them a bigger cage out of leftover lumber and chicken wire i have, becasue the guinea pig cage seems too small for them as they grow. I want to make it an upright cage though, with several perches at different levels. It will take less floor space but give them more room than they have. I want to make the bottom part deep enough to keep the chips in, and i'm thinking about putting clear plastic around at least two sides to help contain the dust, but still let them see out and us see in. We're still working on taming them---they tolerate being held if i hold both at the same time!

its the official book of byc, i believe its advertised on the home page. i ordered mine from barnes and noble, i dont think its a bad thing to educate yourself.

I want to get me one of those books. I have several chicken handbooks already, but i like having more than one reference, because differnt people have different ideas and experience.

I agree the best swap yet !!! What great idea's you have for next season.... I'm so proud to be part of such a wonderful team

I had so much fun and the raffle was a huge hit !!

We should all get together for a group lunch (I'll be a good girl, NO SPIT BALLS.... Promise!!) during the winter to catch up !!

Again, thanks Greg for all you have done

HOW do you find time to build this stuff??? Geez, you make me feel like a slug.

I got some wood from Wendy to build a brooder, but there just isn't time. Ed's working 7 days a week getting ready for some demo or other, so it's me and the kids. Since the kids have contracted the latest plague going around these hutches were a lifesaver. Not bad though, each hutch has 20 sq ft and both were a mere $25! I can't build them for that.

This group sure does generate a large amount of dust. I'm glad it's now confined to just part of the basement!

We really enjoy going to these swaps to see what everyone has. I have yet to come home empty handed from them.

I can't wait for Spring to start hatching again.
Keep up the good work. The raffle was alot of fun. Of course it would have been alot better if I had won the Apple pie. Now I have to go buy one.
