Cknldy         North Georgia and we are flooding, our place is up on a little hill so it takes a lot of rain to flood us, but neighbors have gone to a hotel and I'm keeping an eye on their place.  I went to see how far up the back deck the water was on their property and walking down the steps, (short cut to go around) I slipped and the step caught me right in the right kidney area and on my back side, yeah it has my attention,I'm already starting to look like a rainbow but the water is keeping at bay for now, well it is only up to their 3 rd step,as of this evening we live really close to a creek, well it was a stream really, but now it's a raging river.  You stay dry and warm, and I'll stay off the neighbors back steps.
I used to live in north ga, 30 miles from athens. Our rain is to turn to snow tomorrow, 3-5 inches. We live on a mountain but our lower neighbors get the flooding. I hope u didn't get hurt too badly. How much more rain are they predicting for u? Keep the chickens dry- i've got to add more gravel and hay to the coop this morning thanks to the rain.

HI, Athens is south east from me we are above Cartersville, almost into Tenn. we get a little bit of a break today, with more rain moving in tonight and thursday, but it says only an inch to two but we live in a valley so with the ground saturated the creek floods, with the run off but I'm a little higher up than my neighbors so it takes a little longer to get to me, This past summer they cleared up some areas that have really accumulated a lot of debris and that has helped so much we didn't lose our road in and out of here. Thats the other worry if you stay too long you can't get out because of the roads flooding. but least I have lots to do quilting, quilting, and more quilting. Stay warm we may see some of that wintery mix the weather man can't decide yet.

oh yeah girls are fine, I have a back porch and I put treats under it so they go under there, why they insist going out in the rain is beyond me, and the newly hatched babies, 3 weeks old now were moved inside so I could make sure they were warm and dry, now they are back out in the brooder. Oh did I tell you girls, my young RIR laid her first egg yesterday!!! but was she ever so mad when I took it, she really pitched a fit, but a treat made her quickly forget. I'm going to blow the egg and do something with the shell not sure what yet and make a decoration out of it.

Living in the desert, we don't get much rain or snow but we get flash floods if the mountains get a lot of rain or if there is heavy snow melt. It doesn't happen often though. What we do get is hurricane force winds that are dry and it feels like they suck the air out of you and then the dust storms that go with them that strips paint off your house and cars. Mostly it's heat in summer (up to120 degrees) and cold in winter (down as low as 5 this year)

I feel sorry for anyone that has flooding and fires because they do so much damage. I hope and pray you all stay safe and no more falls. I get to pick up my car from the body shop this morning. I don't like driving rental cars.

Rental car story my hubby just told me: Dh was traveling with the VP of his company doing some marketing. They used the VP's rental car so the company would pay. DH commented one night that it was so weird that the VP had the heat on so high in the car, he was just so hot and uncomfortable riding in the car between meetings and had to roll down his window. The next day as they were driving down the interstate to the next meeting - suddenly the VP rolls down his window and starts jabbing at the controls on the console and cusses. He says " G@# D#$! rental vehicles - how do I turn down this heat!" - and I know he didn't say Gosh Darn either!

Yes I'm still here....just been working to get winter block swop done! Snow permitting they are in the mail tomorrow ! My son is praying for more cold weather as I got him some skates from eBay and as we have had so much rain there is a huge puddle in next doors field he can't wait too freeze over, I reckon he may be lucky by weekend!
As there are fewer of us I will make two lots of 12 blocks so there is more variety . I couldn't decide between the two ideas so it will make things easier!

The cutting takes the longest for me since I don't use a rotary cutter. I've thought of how grand it would be to quick cut with one, no more marking and scissoring. My father's wife said she'd send one but I haven't seen it in a year:) My father says she runs on her own time. Anyhow- choice between spending dh's $$$ on chickens or quilting here lately the chickens win! ;-)

The hardest part for me is to get motivated into starting. I love to shop for fabric but choosing a pattern (unless one jumps out at me and says "make me" and the actual cutting are my least favorite things to do. I don't mind pressing blocks but hate to iron otherwise. Once I sit down to sew then I'm ok
