Willow was seen by a vet and had X-rays taken. No fractures, and vet thinks it’s nerve damage.
She prescribed Meloxicam and told me to secure/tape her leg into the normal position to help her walk.

She gets around well, both with and without the wrap, and her appetite is great, poops look good.

My question is wondering if having her out to build muscle in that leg (wrapped or not) is best or if keeping it wrapped and her contained is better. She definitely prefers the first option but I want to do what’s best for the long run.

And wondering if physical therapy would help or just be painful to her.

Also suggestions on what vitamins/dosing is best in this situation would be appreciated as well, TIA!

👇Suggestion for vitamins were made in your other thread. Did the vet say to limit activity? If not, then tape/wrap per their instructions and let her move about. Moving about would give all the therapy needed.
It would have been good to have started a vitamin with riboflavin in it when she was first hatched. Human b complex tablets work 1/4 tablet daily. That might have treated the curled toe. She doesn’t look like she has splay legs. I’m not sure if she has a slipped tendon or leg bone deformity. The right leg may have a slipped tendon. The first is hard to treat, and the second is impossible to treat. Here is some reading about varus or valgus, and twisted tibia deformities:

Thank you, yes, I have the info from my other post. I am looking for additional vitamin/care suggestions with the new photos and information. ☺️ I wanted to tag the person who commented on my last post so they could see this one but not sure how to do so.

The vet didn’t say much. Said to wrap if I had the materials at home to do it with and to use my best judgement on what works. So I was just looking to talk with others who have pet chickens with a similar issue and see what helps ☺️

I have/had numerous pigeons and a starling with the use of only one leg, but not a chicken until now.

Is it bad etiquette on this forum to start a 2nd thread on the same chicken? If so should I delete the last one first? I couldn’t find where to update the title. I’m genuinely curious. I assumed it would be less confusing then having people have to read through the old info.

I have been a moderator on a bird rescue fb group for the past six years and we appreciated when someone would start a new post with the updated info rather then just updating in the comments. But if it’s different here then now I’ll know 😊
