Lavender Ameracauna rooster Breeding to SOP

Yeah, I'd give them a little longer to fill out before deciding fully then! If it helps, here is the Ameraucana club page that has pictures of Lavenders (they are called 'Self Blue' in the standard) for you to compare to. You can look at some of the other varieties for example of their shape and what the comb should look like as well, and obviously at the Self Blues for feather color.

The written standard is here as well (though I find pictures a lot easier to wrap my head around personally) : http://ameraucanabreedersclub.org/standard.html

I would also recommend joining a couple of the Ameraucana Facebook groups, they are very active and I’ve learned a lot! I know from their critiques of my Ameraucanas that your boy with the smaller tighter pea comb (1) is more desirable than the bigger looser one on the dominant boy. They both have good looking feathering and a nice type, but I was told with Ams to wait till one year for them to fully fill out their hackles and tail. All About Ameraucanas Facebook group is run by the ABC secretary and she loves helping people learn SOP. It’s been very educational and super helpful when I ask questions! I just loved my standard Lav Am boys, they had just the best personalities 🥰 I do bantam Ams now and my Lav ones are all still the best!

Tight peas should look like this. Your dominant boys peas are sort of fleshier and larger. They want it more like this I believe. Sometimes, the larger more loose pea comb can also be a sign they lack a homozygous pea comb and it’s being influenced by another comb type gene.
