Hey ya all so we got some eggs and incubated and now 2 of them are looking like Male and idk cause some say there female, but these are rare lavender Ameracuana and that was why others say there hens. Idk what do you all think? I don’t want cockerels in my henhouse. But here is the thing, they are 16 weeks and don’t crow and don’t standup to other hens and they are a little skidish but if ya sit for a min they will jump on ya and hangout perched on my arm for a bit. So no aggression or crowing and 16 weeks I just don’t know. What do ya all think? Or if that isn’t what they are what are they? I was told they were rare? And didn’t get a clear answer from who we got the eggs from?

Pullets! :D

Pullets. Not sure that lavender are rare. True Ameraucanas seem to be harder to find though for sure.
Thanks so much for clarifying for me, yeah I figured there not that rare! Thanks so much!! And you think there girls that makes me happy cause I just notice my girls don’t play nice with cockerels lol!!

Thanks how do you tell and my only thing is that back tail feathers were higher out there and looked like a cockerel and had me worried! So thanks so much!
Her comb and wattles would be huge if she were a rooster, and she has no male-specific feathering
So how can you tell, just curious for the future? And are lavendar Ameracuana not a very loving bird or they always skiddish? Do any of you have any and pictures of yours?
Disposition varies from bird to bird, if you spend a lot of time with her she might get less skittish. Birds that were not raised with human interaction as a chick usually get frightened more easily
