Lavender Ameraucana Breeders .... UNITE

I had my first ever lav am hatch last night. At midnight I heard a loud darn out, "PEEEEEEEEP,! PEEP, PEEP!" I thoughtto myself that a chick had hatched and wondered how I had missed that? Went to look and Peep had just managed to get a small fragment of egg shell off and was peeping up a storm. This continued until 2am when Peep stopped and apparently decided to let the household sleep. Little cutie.

Congrats on your 1st Lav.

It is crazy how loud those little ones can be, fresh out of the shell.

I am destined to not have Lavs, apparently! Two days ago my 5 week old Split cockerel was killed. I have 8 more in the bator, lockdown today and as luck would have it, the power short circuited last night! I woke up to an 80 degree bator and cold eggs. Crossing my fingers that they make it out!
I have another batch of about a dozen hatching next week, and grabbing a dozen BBS eggs tomorrow so HOPEFULLY I can get some good lavender pens set up this winter.

Sorry to hear that! I think they will still hatch, but might be a day or so late.

I see that you are getting answers.
They should be fine with that short of a shutdown
