Yep.... yes it is.... I guess thats what I'm going to stick with then. Its a good solid name!!
No, I do not think its considered "pure" if it has gold on him... A lot of Lavender Orpingtons have yellow coloring on their neck and tail feathers. I think its kinda weird that mine does not have any yellow on him at all! I think people are trying to get rid of the yellow feathering because its a defect? I cant remember, but I think I saw a person on Ebay talk about that a little. But Im not going to jump to conclusions... I would love to see some pictures of your Lavender Orpington. Is it normal for a lavender orpington rooster to grow golden colored feathers on his neck once he is full grown? Mine is huge!
Dont forget to post pictures!Orpie, glad to hear they all cleared up!! My coop needs a good spray down aswell. Been holding off for warmer weather.
Pomchick, my Lavs are not full grown yet, so i cant really say yes or no...but my guess is no. Doesnt sound purebred...i bought eggs of ebay and im starying to think mine arnt purebed either..they should have black legs and beaks..but mine are only kinda black...maybe they just have to grow into it.![]()
On another note ..i got my Silver spangled Hamburg roo today!! WOoooO!!!
Chickens usually start to lay when they are 6 or 7 months old! But it really just depends on the chicken itself. I have a chicken who didn't start laying until she was 8 or 9 months old!How many weeks old should they start to lay? i put them in with the rest of the flock for now, just until the hens start to lay..then they will go into their own coop.
Ill go take pics of him right now!!
