Hi everyone! I am suppose to be picking up 6 lavender orpingtons that hatched late last summer and they are making room for more chicks, so I am buying the older hens. Does anyone have any advice on what to look for? We are just getting them for eggs and to be family pets. We have a enclosed coop/ run for the girls. They haven't started laying yet, but should be soon. It will be our families first time having hens and we are so excited. I fell in live with the lavenders as soon as I saw the beautiful birds!![]()
Shoot, if you were in FL- I'd give you $20Hello all. I have a ~7 week lav orp, Laverne, who we're pretty certain is a Verne (pronounced pink comb and wattles coming in). I am in the Bay Area near San Francisco, can't have roos here. Best bet is Craigslist or here or...? And how much does one ask for for a rooster? $10? More? Thanks in advance for your help!
Here's a pic of le Verne (along with the rest of our chicks):
