Lavender Orpington Thread

If you have a pure Lav Orp Roo and cross it with a pure Lav Orp Hen will all offspring be Lavender?

I had heard that in order to keep the pure Lavender color you need to cross your Lav Orp hen/rooster with a black Orp, is this true?

If you cross pure lav with pure lav you get pure lav! If you cross pure lav with black you get black that carry the lav gene I believe...enless the black already carried the lav gene then you get lav chicks and black chicks that carry the lav gene. Im not 100% on that tho

From what I gather, the yellowing only happens on roosters.this dosnt mean that they are not purebred. And they are not mixed with buffs. Could be sun bleached feathers,or the parents of that roo were "project Lavenders" ..to get rid of the yellowing you would breed to a good black orp if the yellowing bothers you.
Edit- I should correct myself ..after some reading I found out that the yellowing of feathers are just "spent feathers" and will go away after the molt..you breed back to black to produce better feather quality.

Ok so question the lady I bought my laavender Black split chicks from said she has a lavender rooster over lavender black and blue hens, I bought a batch of chicks from her as I cannot find a single lavender orp hen anywhere near me. They are now six weeks old and I am having issues identifying colors one chick she called a blue but I had another member say it was lavender the others she called splashes and then there is one black now I am completely baffled on the genetics what is the difference between the lavender and blue does some one have pictures to compare them? I also just Dozen pure lavender orpington chicks off of ebay I am excited about those. I will probably seperate any pullets I get out of those out with my best lavender roo (I have three) Just looking for advice on what to do.
