Yes they look like it. Cuties!
x2!

Just an update, Charlotte at 8 weeks 2 days confirmed himself today with his first few attempts at crowing. So very funny sounding.

Will let you know when Holly makes his first attempt. Oh well, two more boys will have to find them homes and try again. Thanks to everyone that gave input, now I have a much better idea how to tell early on and all these pictures will help too. Hope everyone has a great day!

My little Cuddles made a strange honking noise yesterday. (She was nervous because my daughter's friends were passing her around & trying to get her to perform some tricks. Yes, she does some clicker training.) Anyway, when she made the strange honk, she held her head up like a roo with curved neck. Could she be a roo or was this a call out for help? (My other Lav Orp, Tank, is a roo & we knew that from his 2nd week of life. The comb is 2x the size & red.) Cuddles is shy & looks female to me. What is your opinion?

10+ weeks old.

I am very new to Orpington breed. I just recently got a Lavender and a splash. I am trying to learn all I can about them. They are currently a week and 1/2 old. Are they any special trick on telling roos from hens? I know some breeds like RIR have little things that help so I was wondering if any of you have any little hints for this breed. I know nothing is for certain, I just like looking and guessing. LOL

What are some special things I should know about these cute little things. The older hens are so sweet looking!!
Here is one of the little ones right after I got them.

I don't have much experience either, for I only have Orpingtons for a year and a half, all buff hens. They didn't have the slightest comb showing at 10 weeks. You might have a slower developing roo there, but I would wait awhile, because the color of the comb is pale. It might just be a pullet with a larger comb.

I think she looks like a pullet. Here is my little rooster he is 4.5 weeks in this picture. Twice the size of the little black chick he was hatched with

I agree actually it does look like a pullet now. Her comb is very light.
Now that im looking at the 4 1/2 week rooster beside the black chick, it makes me wonder if my little guy is a girl. He is 6 weeks old and I dont see the red comb.
I have to go upstairs to post new pics if my guys. My older pullets and roosters are 10 week old.
It can be so confusing.
My husband and I hatched 14 lavender Orpington chicks thursday. We wing sexed them which is really easy when they are a couple days old.
We got 14 hens and one rooster!!

I have 6 left! I sold 8 yesterday. They go very quickly.
I just set 14 more LO eggs minutes ago. wish me luck.
Where are you located? I don't ship chicks but I travel a lot and don't mind making detours to give the babies new homes.
