I can try to get a picture. Just remember we have an older camera! I'll see if I can get a picture of the lav splash next to the splash for a comparison.

That would be awesome!!!

So, you can not breed a split lav splash to a Lav Roo and get Lavender offspring, right? Or you can, but you can not tell which one is a Lavender and which one is just a muddy splash.

I think Sonoran said you would get 50% blue and 50% lavender when breeding a lav splash/split to a pure lavender. Is this correct?

Suze, I know you must be thinking

I think that is true, however, they say that you can not tell the difference between the true lavenders and the others

But, if you breed them back to Lavender long enough, I would think they would be true lavenders.

Hopefully that will help and let us get away with a few more "interesting" questions.

I do remember tadkerson mentioning one way to determine if a bird is a true lavender. Look at the feather shafts on the wings and tail. The top of the shaft will be light and the underside is dark. In a blue or splash bird they are the same.

Half would be blue lavender and half would be blue split to lavender. Yes, you can tell the difference between these by looking at feather shafting; however, if you didn;t know that they are lavender, you might not guess it. Telling the difference between a blue split to lavender and a blue that is not split is not possible (but you can know from breeding records).

I would not call it muddy.
