Lawnmower vs Rooster GRAPHIC PICS/ Saying Goodbye

Make that four votes for a Paypal account! I would love to chip in a few bucks towards Kubota's recovery fund. I know you've heard this countless times since the saga of Kubota began, but you are an absolute saint for taking care of him. I really admire your dedication!

Pay pal great idea. Lori sounds like ur days as caregiver are numbered. His comb is looking nice & red. And yes the beef liver is a good idea. Excellent source of iron & protein.

ummm... thanks y'all (blushing smiley again).

I have several reservations about the paypal.... #1 being contributions are forbidden by the site as far as I know?

also - if something happened to Kubota I would feel HORRIBLE about using other people's money

and finally - while it has cost more than I planned, I worry about receiving more than I have paid / more than it will cost.

I so appreciate the offers and find them so humbling and kind, but for now I will have to give you my utmost appreciation and decline.

I am wondering about the liver now because, as was pointed out to me via PM, we are always reading here to buy the Poly ViSol (I think) withOUT Iron.... so is iron in big doses bad for chickens?

It might take some work to do this off BackyardChickens.com, which I think is what you meant by the site not allowing contributions. You could set something up on a blog and let us know where to look?

Blogger.com is free.

Also:
I think that most of the people interested in donating know that the Rooster still might not make it, and are willing to take that risk. Maybe you could donate any left over money to a chicken rescue? I think most people wouldn't mind that there may be money left over.

oh geez.... ok.

Um, how about this - we just hold off on any of that stuff until after Thursday when I see my vet? I'll discuss treatment with her, costs and see where we stand. Then I'll give y'all an update from there? I just don't do well accepting money when people don't know me (even though I am honest to a fault) and can't see what is actually being done. We'll have to just see, ok? *blushing again*

So did anyone have any input for this part

The only place that looks worrisome (the chunk of yuck is just dead, it isn't rotting or anythign) is on the bottom of his leg up near his hock. I think it jsut stays too wet between being wrapped, soaked and then tucked under him when in the kennel. If he does ok unwrapped I will probably clean it good and soak it in either epsoms or povadine in the morning, let him in his sling, then wrap him tomorrow... jsut alternate days leaving him wrapped and unwrapped? What do you think?
